This week, the MTN/WHAG Outreach team visited Britstown! ✨

We spent an inspiring two days with the Grade 8 learners from Hoërskool Theron, exploring artworks, and getting creative with tablets and a practical art project! Learners also learned more about what an art museum has to offer.

A big thank you to Hoërskool Theron for accommodating us!

For Some, the Pathway to Education Lies Between Thorns by Peter E. Clarke's opening reception took place last night at the Johannes Stegmann Art Gallery, the University of Free State 👏 this is the fourth installment of this traveling exhibition and WHAG could not be happier working alongside UFS to make this possible.

The William Humphreys Art Gallery would like to thank the Johannes Stegmann Art Gallery, with a special thanks to art curator Angela DeJesus, for hosting this exhibition as we continue to keep Clarke's memory alive within South African art institutions.

The curator of the exhibition, WHAG's Chief Curator Chepape Makgato, represented the Museum at the opening reception. He is also leading a curator's walkabout today at 11am 🥳

The University of the Free State (UFS), in partnership with WHAG, presents For Some, the Pathway to Education Lies Between Thorns, a solo exhibition of works by celebrated South African artist, writer and poet Peter E. Clarke.

The exhibition, now in its fourth iteration, will be on view at the Johannes Stegmann Art Gallery on the UFS Bloemfontein Campus from 2 September to 2 October 2026!

The opening reception takes place on 2 September 2026 at 18h00, with a walkabout led by curator Chepape Makgato, Chief Curator at WHAG, on 3 September 2026 at 11:00.

The William Humphreys Art Galleru cordially invites you to the opening reception of Mother Tongue, a solo exhibition by Anastasia Pather 🥳! Anastasia is a practicing fine artist who creates her artworks with finger painting, and the exhibition showcases her works that span the past decade.

The reception takes place on 10 September 2026 at 17h30 for 18h00. The opening speaker will be Prof. Boitumelo M. Diale- NRF SARChl Chair: Inclusive Rural Education and Early Childhood Development, Educational Psychologist and Scholar.
