**MEET BRUNO.**
A young boy sits against a vivid red background, his arms folded, his gaze directed straight at the camera.
His name is Bruno, the son of photographer Philip-Lorca diCorcia, photographed by Nan Goldin in Naples in 1995.
For Goldin, photography has always been closely intertwined with personal relationships. Rather than observing life from a distance, she has often photographed people within her own circle, creating images shaped by familiarity, connection and shared experience.
Just one year after it was taken, Bruno’s portrait became the poster image for *Nan Goldin: Children 1976–1996* at Matthew Marks Gallery in New York.
**Thirty years after that exhibition, the portrait remains a compelling example of Goldin’s deeply personal approach to photography.**
What begins as a portrait of a child becomes part of a much larger story, one of relationships, representation and the enduring presence of an image.
