We hear this a lot.. "It's OK, I've got a good camera, I can copy my own art!". Then we see something like the image on the left below.

It's not hard to see the difference between poor quality images and amazing quality - we produce the latter. It's not as expensive as you might think and when your reputation depends on providing a quality product, why risk it?

Think all mats should be white? Think again!

We love showing our framing clients how a bold colour choice can completely transform a piece. For these Indigenous reproductions, we used a terracotta mat to bring out the earthy sun-tones in one, and a vibrant blue to pull the coastal vibes from the other. UV-inhibiting, museum glass to minimise reflections completes the work.

The secret? A thin black inner mat to keep everything crisp and gallery-ready.

Designers: This is how we create a cohesive gallery wall that still celebrates the individuality of every piece.

This has bugged me for years! Print V Reproduction. Please stop telling your clients one thing and selling them another.

Many artists use the word “print” when in fact they are selling 'reproductions". There is an important distinction between the two.

A print is an original artwork created through a printmaking method such as etching, lithography, or screen printing. Each print is considered an original because the artwork is made for that process.

A fine art reproduction is a high‑quality, archival copy of an existing painting printed on an inkjet printer. It captures the colour, detail, and character of the original so collectors can enjoy the artwork at a more accessible price, while the original remains unique.

Want to know more?

A print and a fine art reproduction both let you share an artwork beyond the original, but they differ in how they’re made, how close they are to the artist’s hand, and how collectors perceive thei...

One of the great challenges for a guy who was born before television, mobile phones, cd’s, dvd’s, space travel, computers, etc etc etc is keeping up with the micro updates of everything we use these days to spread the word. It is a wonderful thing to be able to show the world what it is you do and even more wonderous to be able to offer the world an opportunity to buy the work that I do as either an original or as a print of the highest quality. So in order to do just that a new website has been created. It is simple, easy to navigate and easy to engage with my galleries and my master print maker, all of whom will take care of your needs and wants in their friendly professional manner. Heck, you can even get in touch with me here at The Studio at El Rancho to purchase any of the originals here that haven’t gone off to buyers or galleries yet. The website was built by my friend Steven Hill who loves doing this work and is a super creative guy as you will see. Have fun exploring the site, if you are going to buy from The Studio collection or if you have comments please DM me. Giddyup, onward. Lew.

Copying Amanda McPaul's latest artwork "Heavenly Realm" which is a rather interesting size, 213 x 284cm. The interesting part is when you consider that doorways are only 203cm! The canvas has been stretched onto a foldable frame - it actually folds in half for transport!

What's the largest artwork you've ever painted?
