“Through the Window is grounded in the enduring legacy of Albert Namatjira, whose watercolour paintings, produced during his influential career from the 1930s to the 1950s, reshaped how the Central Australian landscape was seen and understood.
Namatjira established a powerful artistic and cultural lineage, passing his skills and way of seeing to the next generation of painters including Wenten Rubuntja who collaborated with Cedar Prest on a stained glass window at the Araluen Arts Centre in 1988.
Cedar Prest’s legacy continues today through GLAAS Inc and the glass and glazing certificate course at Melbourne Polytechnic, where a new generation of stained-glass artists like Jordan Benson have been nurtured and supported.” - excerpt from exhibition essay.
