🎨 MINDSCAPES | Self Belief🧠
Introducing Self Belief By Jo Pether, one of the three wearable artworks created for Mindscapes.
Mindscapes is a community mental health initiative by RANT Arts, funded by the City of Launceston, presenting wearable micro-artworks designed to spark conversations about mental health, wellbeing, connection and everyday care.

💬 Artist Statement
The power of self belief is so often lacking as an artist Finding the confidence to start the next piece in a collection. Wondering 'is it right', coming back after a damaged canvas. Empowering my thoughts to create... to find the right reference. Getting help and incentive from others when my artistic flow is low, including the phography of Louis Blanc whose black and white photography was used with thanks as a reference.
Designed to be worn, shared and passed on, each Mindscapes badge offers a small visual reminder that conversations about mental health matter.

🎨 Art you can wear. Conversations that matter.

2023 Quick Response Grant recipent- Soma Lumia
Soma Lumia worked with QVMAG senior curator Ashley Bird to develop a new interactive video installation linking the museum’s three-screen immersive space at Royal Park with a companion experience at Inveresk.

Reimagining, Lacunae, first presented at Mona Foma in 2021 -the work built on its original response to COVID lockdowns and “Zoom fatigue,” transforming distance into a playful, shared experience. Audiences were invited to dance across the two sites as coloured silhouettes, and this new iteration also introduced pre-recorded “ghost” performers.

Featuring entirely new video and audio created through Soma Lumia’s site-responsive approach, the work was exhibited for three months from November 2023. Supported by a Quick Response Grant, the project included a collaboration with youth dance company Stompin, who choreographed and recorded performances that lived within the installation. A video documentation of the work was acquired for QVMAG’s collection.
