We're so pleased to share that our new exhibition GENERATIONS: Cats Fans. Then, Now, Always. is now open 💭

This exhibition is about what it really means to be a fan of the Geelong Football Club. The kind of connection that runs through families, footy seasons, and a lifetime of memories.

Because following the Cats isn’t just turning up on game day. It’s the colours you grew up in, the rituals you still stick to, the moments you relive over and over again. It’s something that gets passed down, shared, and felt together.

See the collection at Geelong Sports Museum.

Thursday - Saturday, 10:00am - 2:30pm.

New exhibition coming next Thursday, 26 June 💭GENERATIONS: Cats Fans. Then, Now, Always.

This National Reconciliation Week, we reflect on this year’s theme: All In.

At Geelong Sports Museum, we recognise the stories, histories and cultures that have shaped the land on which we gather, play and connect. We pay our respects to the Wadawurrung people and to Elders past, present, and emerging.

Reconciliation asks all of us to listen, learn and walk forward together.

With Sir Doug Nicholls Round at .stadium this afternoon, we're reflecting on an important chapter of local sporting history.

Poorne Yarriworre, known as Albert "Pompey" Austin, was a Djargurd Wurrung and Djab Wurrung man and one of the great athletes of the 19th century. His speed and skill led to selection in Geelong Football Club's season opener in 1872, making him the first Indigenous player in VFL/AFL history.

A pioneer whose legacy continues to shape Australian Sport.

We thank the Austin family for working with us to share Pompey's story, and acknowledge that cultural permission to use this image was granted by his descendants via State Library of Victoria.
