Recent visitors to the museum were Nick Davies and his wife, Janet from Adelaide, South Australia.

Nick advised that he was 27 years of age in 1963, when he commenced employment with Ansett in Adelaide, South Australia and that he departed in 1976, due to "night shift work and a young family".

Nick was a Fitter and Turner with a motor cycle company before joining 'Ansett' in Adelaide as a Fitter and Turner - Machinist. He advised that "outsiders could come in" and be qualified as an Engineer. Nick has fond memories of travelling to Melbourne, Victoria, for training at Essendon.

Nick advised that Ansett ran courses continually with many students from each state of Australia attending the various classes.

Nick commented that 'Ansett' was a very good company to work for, exceptionally good.

Nick and Janet (pictured) have been married for almost 60 years and Nick will celebrate his 90th birthday on Saturday 6 June 2026. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Nick.

The Hostess and the Horse.

Lauraine Cameron, Duty Supervisor Flight Attendants W.A. laughs when thinking back on her days as an Air Hostess with MMA.

"I particularly remember one flight when a passenger who had boarded in Derby slept right through our stopover in Broome where he was supposed to disembark," said Lauraine.

"We got to Perth and had to wrap him in blankets as he was not dresed for the cold." When we asked him if there was anyone in Broome he needed to contact, he thought for a minute and said, "Well, my horse is tied up at the airport."

"We had to contact the staff in Broome to give the horse some food and water."
