Join us for a special Remembrance Day author talk!

Discover the little-known history of official Australian War Artist Alan Moore. Moore’s compelling artistic output during World War Two evolved in direct response to his exposure to Theatre of Operations.

Author John Morthen will discuss diving into the archives to discover, research and preserve this important military history.

Today marks the 53rd anniversary of the 1973 Chilean Military Coup d’état which forced a whole generation into exile.

The 1973 Chilean Military Coup d’état caused thousands of Chileans to be kidnapped, tortured, disappeared and murdered. The military, commanded by General Pinochet and supported by the US, UK and Australian Governments, overthrew the democratically elected left-wing government of President Salvador Allende.

A whole generation of Chileans were forced into exile, and by 1981 more than 18,000 arrived in Australia after seeking refugee status. Many made their new home in Sydney’s western suburbs of Liverpool, Campbelltown and Fairfield.

Today we remember all generations affected by the Coup, in Chile, in Australia and overseas.
