ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Louise Knowles
EVOLVE Group Exhibition May 28th - June 25th 2026

Based in Sydney, Louise Knowles is an Abstract Expressionist who communicates via her instinctual language of colour and textural beauty.
Working mainly in oils, layerings of collage and capturing imagery with photography to distill her process forms part of Louise’s dialogue.

Louise is heavily influenced by her surroundings, objects, energy and people who fill that space all add imprints to her practice.
Design sensibilities of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s are apparent in the shapes and elements of her work. Spatial awareness, predominantly the negative space, is fascinating to the artist.
It is within these parameters that her work evolves. Abstraction is her obsession, focus and challenge.

French artist Stanislas Piechaczek brings to his linen a distinct, fresh conversation via figuration. The works sit between an unusual break of relaxed vibe meets clever observation and quirky dialogue. Born in Issoudun a small town in the Centre region of France, Stan then moved to the seaside town of Biarritz in the French Basque Country in south-western France and from there came to Australia. From an early age, Stan was drawing and writing poetry which developed over the years into a passionate love of painting.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Barry Lorne
EVOLVE Group Exhibition May 28th - June 25th 2026

Barry was born into a working-class family and raised in the government tenement housing projects of Northern England in the mill town of Lancaster. At the age of twelve he immigrated to North America with his family and began an intense four-year apprenticeship program under a Hungarian Master painter and later completed his education with a B.F.A. from the University of Lethbridge. As well as being an artist Barry has been an editor-in-chief of an arts magazine, educator and more recently a curator of a contemporary art space. He lives and works in Calgary, Alberta Canada where he keeps a full-time studio and shows his work in Canada and the U.S. His work can be found in private and public collections around the world.

“My statement often changes with any new series of work but what remains consistent is that I consider myself to be an Emblematic painter and Pop Surrealist using symbols and icons to create a visual language. In my earlier work I referenced characters from my childhood growing up in a class-based society as well as my status as an immigrant. My work now is much more focused on the process of reductionism both in imagery and application were paintings imply a story but never fully resolve the narrative. I believe this form of ‘story-telling’ is much more inclusive to the viewer and their sense of what the imagery means to them personally.”

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Donina Asera
EVOLVE Group Exhibition May 28th - June 25th 2026

Melbourne-based artist Donina Asera creates vibrant mythological narratives centred on myths and storytelling. As a first-generation Australian with Dutch and Samoan parents, she incorporates elements from her diverse cultural background into distinctive patterns forming the foundation of her visual language. Her artistic journey began at an early age watching her grandfather paint in his studio. Though she’s always drawn, Donina began painting around 10 years ago, over time developing her signature style of flat, abstracted landscapes populated by god-like figures and creatures. Donina has gained recognition as a finalist in the prestigious Sir John Sulman Prize and several competitions including Artlovers Australia Art Prize, Art to Art Unearthed Art Prize, and juried Art2Life International Art Exhibition. She has presented work in a solo exhibition and participated in art fairs throughout Australia. Her work appears in private collections throughout Australia, Europe, UK and US
