From Thursday, May 14th through Monday, May 25th, a major exhibition will be held at the former Carrefour department store site in the center of Westerlo.
Spanning an area of 900m², an enormous number of artworks will be on display centered around the theme: abstract to surreal.
Three POPAI works are heading to a wall that isn't mine. The exhibition "De abstracten en de surrealisten", hosted by OXOT Westerlo, brings together artists working at the edges of abstraction and surreal imagery.
For POPAI this is a first proper conversation with neighbouring traditions. The faceless figures, the impossible objects, the colours that refuse to behave. They sit somewhere between the two camps, so it feels right to show them between the two camps.
Three works, picked carefully. If you are anywhere near Westerlo, come stand in front of them and decide for yourself which side they fall on.
