North Lanark Regional Museum Experience this unique heritage through our diverse programs and events. The Historical Society is always looking for new members and volunteers!

The North Lanark Regional Museum tells the stories of the North Lanark region through the collection, preservation, and presentation of artefacts, culture, and local history. The North Lanark Regional Museum is owned and operated by the North Lanark Historical Society with the goal of collecting, preserving and displaying the history of Mississippi Mills. The museum features several exhibit spaces

including seasonal exhibits, permanent local history exhibits, and a pioneer log cabin. The museum is the perfect destination for families with young children, retirees and history buffs. The museum collection focuses on local history and includes: artefacts, photographs, documents and books. Our research library contains local history books, family histories and original copies of the Almonte Gazette. In addition, the Historical Society holds special events such as the Scottish Tea, Strawberry Social, Annual Heritage Dinner, and Guest Speakers at various times during the year. Individual memberships are $15 and Family memberships (same address) are $25. To become a member, please make cheques payable to the North Lanark Historical Society, Box 218, Almonte ON K0A 1A0. Make sure to include a return address, as all members will be issued a tax receipt.

General Meeting on Wednesday June 3 at 7 PM at the North
Lanark Regional Museum. At our AGM we will review the past
year, discuss our goals for the future, and take nominations for our 2026 Board of Directors.

We are thrilled to have Laurence Wall as our guest speaker! Laurence is a retired CBC new presenter and will be giving his talk "20th Century Canadian History Through the Magic of Radio".

Are you ready for March Break? We'll be open for a full day of crafting on Wednesday, March 18 from 10am - 4pm with activities for all! North Lanark Regional Museum and Smiths Falls Heritage House Museum will be joining us for triple the fun. Come by for a chat and a craft 😎

This is part of Kingston & Area Association of Museums, Art Galleries & Historic Sites' March of the Museums! Sites all over the region will be hosting fun activities and events.

In conjunction with our new music exhibit, we are excited to announce our next NLHS Speaker Series talk The Evolution of Recorded Home Music presented by Brian Tackaberry.

An avid researcher and also a member of the NLHS board of directors, Brian will guide guests through an indepth look at the history of how we listen to music in our homes. From gramophones to bluetooth speakers and everything in between!

Join us at the North Lanark Regional Museum on Saturday February 28th at 2 PM for the presentation. Admission is free, but donations to the North Lanark Historical Society are always appreciated.
