Gallery walls can feel overwhelming, but they do not have to be!!! Start with a small group of framed artworks and work your way out from there! The best walls showcase a variety of different shaped and textured frames, with a subtle theme running throughout the artwork. These pieces are from three different European vacations, and I think it is a lovely start!! PLAQUE MOUNT IT!!!! Plaque mounting is reserved for pieces that you WANT on the wall, but don’t necessarily need to fully frame it. (And you’ve realized you’re too old for thumbtacking it 🤪). Image is adhered to a wooden board, with easy to hang key holes on the back- plus a variety of border colour options and thicknesses. And that’s where I come in- to learn about your artwork and understand your goals around the aesthetic, the value and the level of conservation and preservation you’re needing. Picked this little piece up in my travels a few weeks ago, “A Sometime Thing”. I was struck by the simplicity of the piece. There’s a misconception around simple pieces, that they need simple framing as to not “overwhelm” the artwork. I disagree!! Simple pieces are a perfect opportunity to choose a frame that brings life to the piece, to GRAB someone’s attention and PULL you into it. We always remember when we fell in LOVE for the first time! This dandelion painting was the first original piece I HAD TO HAVE. Ask the artist, I CRIED when it was tentatively promised to someone else. But as all things work as they ought to, it has been mine for quite sometime now.
