Today in 1945, the Nazi-run extermination camp of Auschwitz was liberated by the Soviet Red Army. Every year there are fewer and fewer Holocaust survivors left to share their story. Elly Gotz was just 13 years old when he was forced into the Kaunas Ghetto in June 1941, and just 16 when he was deported to Dachau in the summer of 1944. Elly Gotz will be sharing his important, impactful and inspiring story at Western University on March 10th.

Mark your calendar and join us on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 6:30pm (EST) to hear Mr. Elly Gotz speak, "From Dachau, and back to Life." You don't want to miss this incredible opportunity.
All are welcome! RSVP to [email protected] for the zoom link.

US President Trump recently said Canada and other non-US NATO members "kept their soldiers back from the frontlines" in Afghanistan.

Here's a photo taken at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa in 2022: A Canadian Army Mercedes-Benz Gelandewagen scout car that had its front end destroyed by a Taliban improvised explosive device on 12 December 2005.

Three Canadian soldiers and a Canadian journalist were injured in the blast. IEDs were the biggest killer of all Coalition forces in Afghanistan - American, Canadian, British, French, German, Danish, etc. This wasn't a war with a frontline, anywhere could be dangerous.

The 1st Hussars Museum is closed for the winter, but we will have a display at the London Heritage Council Heritage Fair at the London Public Library's Central Branch on February 21st.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

October 24 marks United Nations Day 🌐

More than 125,000 Canadian military personnel have contributed to peace through United Nations operations worldwide, most between 1948 and 1995. Canadians still deploy in smaller numbers to UN missions today, including to Cyprus, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and South Sudan.
