We are honoured to host a retrospective vernissage to celebrate the work of Robert Leprohon the 2nd of June.

The work of Robert Leprohon is rooted in abstraction and guided by a search for balance, structure, and rythme. Influenced by the automatist spirit of Les Automatistes, his paintings combine precision with a strong sense of composition, where color and form are carefully cohabiting.

There is a clear dialogue with modernist rigor, recalling the clarity and structure of the De Stijl movement and artists like Piet Mondrian, yet Leprohon retains a more instinctive, expressive approach. The result is a body of work that sits between control and spontaneity. His work is precise, still, calculated yet deeply alive.

Nous avons l’honneur d’accueillir un vernissage rétrospectif célébrant l’œuvre de Robert Leprohon le 2 juin.

Ancrée dans l’abstraction, sa pratique témoigne d’une recherche constante d’équilibre, de structure mais aussi de rythme. Influencé par l’élan des Automatistes, Leprohon lie énergie gestuelle et un sens de la composition, où couleurs et formes demeurent en cohabitation maîtrisée.

Son travail entre également en dialogue avec la rigueur moderniste, évoquant la clarté et la structure du mouvement De Stijl et des artistes comme Piet Mondrian, tout en conservant une approche plus intuitive et expressive. Il en résulte une œuvre située entre contrôle et spontanéité, précise, retenue, mais profondément vivante.

Deux œuvres monumentales du maître québécois de l’abstraction Jean-Paul Jérôme, exclusivement chez Galerie 203. ✨

Formé à l’École des beaux-arts de Montréal, membre des Plasticiens, il séjourne à Paris avant de revenir à Montréal au début des années 1960. Élu à l’Académie royale des arts du Canada en 1978, son œuvre demeure une référence majeure de l’abstraction canadienne.

Two monumental works by Quebec abstract master Jean-Paul Jérôme, exclusively at Galerie 203. ✨

Trained at the Montreal School of Fine Arts and a member of the Plasticiens movement, he lived in Paris before returning to Montreal in the early 1960s. Elected to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 1978, his work remains a landmark of Canadian abstraction.
