ON THIS DAY ๐Ÿ—“

Ralph Huculak, the northern Ontario distributor for Olympic souvenirs, shows off various souvenirs for sale celebrating the Montreal 1976 Olympics that remained unsold after the Olympics concluded. Huculak had nearly 2000 items at a 50% discount at his Bruce St. store. He even gave some unsold souvenirs away, including a 5 foot long stuffed beaver to a local Boy Scout troupe, who used it as a mascot. He blamed poor sales on adverse publicity that the '76 games received.

Did you have any souvenirs from the Montreal 1976 Olympics? ๐Ÿ‘€

ON THIS DAY ๐Ÿ—“

Timber! On August 12th, 1964, workers felled the trees that lined Wellington Street between East and Simpson. This heavily opposed tree cutting was to make way for the reconstruction and widening of the street.
