65x46 cm, acrylic on canvas

for Altered nature show on display at Pretty Portal until 17 July.

Altered Nature brings together ARDIF and Pixelpancho, two distinctive positions within Urban Art who approach nature not as representation, but as a dynamic and transformable condition. Both artists emerge from the street and urban art scene, where organic forms, technological aesthetics and urban influences merge in unique ways.

At the center of the exhibition is the idea of a nature that can no longer be understood as untouched or idealized, but instead as something shaped by human intervention, technological processes and cultural transformation.

Robots are the central and constantly recurring motif in the work of Pixelpancho. His figures appear like relics of a forgotten future — marked by time, rust and decay. The artist describes his visual worlds as forgotten spaces beneath layers of dust and dirt, populated by robots as creations of humankind: damaged, worn and suspended between organic life and mechanical construction.

At the core of his work lies the connection and fusion between human and machine. Pixelpancho creates hybrid beings and scenarios in which technical and organic elements become inseparably intertwined. His figures appear both vulnerable and artificially constructed — machines endowed with human characteristics, emotions and memories. Rust, fractured surfaces and fragile constructions become symbols of transience, transformation and the continuous evolution of social and technological systems.

The artist’s surreal visual worlds exist somewhere between Urban Art, dystopian poetry and narrative painting. Characteristic of his work is the combination of richly detailed surfaces, melancholic atmosphere and a visual language that merges influences from Street Art, classical painting and contemporary illustration.

Born in Italy, Pixelpancho studied at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin as well as at the Academy of Fine Arts in Valencia. Through numerous international projects, festivals and exhibitions, he became one of the defining voices of the Italian Urban Art scene alongside artists such as Blu, Erica il Cane and the Fame Festival.

Structures appear simultaneously grown and engineered, while surfaces carry traces of time, memory, damage and repair.

Altered Nature
ARDIF × PIXELPANCHO
30 May – 17 July

Altered Nature brings together ARDIF and Pixelpancho, two distinctive voices in Urban Art whose works approach nature not as representation, but as a dynamic and constantly shifting condition. Emerging from the street and urban art scene, both artists combine organic forms, technological aesthetics and urban influences in unique ways.

At the center of the exhibition is the idea of a nature that can no longer be understood as untouched or idealized, but instead as something shaped by human intervention, technological processes and cultural transformation.

In the works of ARDIF and Pixelpancho, nature appears as a hybrid system — simultaneously organic and constructed. ARDIF’s imagery often reveals biomechanical structures in which plants and machines merge into one another, while Pixelpancho develops complex scenarios oscillating between nature, architecture and mechanical elements. Structures seem both grown and engineered; surfaces carry traces of time, memory, damage and repair.

The resulting works move beyond classical notions of landscape and instead focus on processes: growth and decay, layering and fragmentation, mechanics and abstraction.

The title Altered Nature intentionally remains open-ended. “Altered” refers not only to physical transformation, but also to perception itself — to a nature filtered through technology, urban space and imagination.

Rather than making a direct statement, the exhibition creates an atmospheric space in which different states of an altered nature encounter one another and form new connections.

VERMIBUS is a Berlin-based artist and activist critiquing modern beauty standards and advertising culture. By removing fashion ads from public space, altering them, and reinstalling them, he re-humanizes bodies that were digitally “perfected” and stripped of identity. His work begins and ends in the streets—challenging how consumer culture, Photoshop, and social media redefine beauty, success, and selfhood.

Guy Denning for his upcoming show "The idea of her"

Guy Denning’s work has long existed at the intersection of traditional painting and contemporary urban art, drawing equally from European pictorial history and political urgency. His paintings and drawings are defined by an expressive, often fragmented figuration, combined with stencilled and collaged text, abrasion, overpainting and deliberate disruption. In Denning’s work, identity is never presented as fixed or resolved, but as something fragile, provisional and constantly in flux.

The works shown in this exhibition represent a particularly focused and intimate phase of his practice. Drawings and paintings revolve around memory, imagination and projection. They deliberately reject the conventions of portraiture, approaching their subjects instead through suggestion, movement and emotional density. Here, proximity is not created through likeness, but through attitude.
