Exhibition on view until July 27, 2025
Artist talk Fri, July 18, 7 pm
Luna Haser was born in 1993 in Freiburg im Breisgau, and currently lives and works in Leipzig. Since 2015, she has been studying at HGB in the classes of Prof. Annette Schröter and Prof. Kerstin Drechsel. Haser also had an exchange at the Academy of Fine Art in Oslo with Prof. Melissa Gordon. In 2023, she received her diploma, and now she is enrolled as a master student, continuing under Prof. Kerstin Drechsel.
The artist works primarily with acrylic and pastel pencils—materials so playful, their tender core muffled in solid wood. Luna Haser’s exhibition at the ODP Galerie is titled „Sharing Air.“
What unfolds within the works, however, escapes definition-remaining deliberately unresolved. Hidden small things quietly linger to be discovered-traces of presence, fragments of self.
To whom does this hand belong? Is it „I“ who tries to reach them? Why is my body outside the canvas, leaving it invisible to the viewer-revealing just a limb, the sole evidence of me, of my existence, my only attempt to extend myself to what is happening. To get in touch with myself through reaching them. I am present in every painting. My grip is tight around their arm, trying to hold them, but they cannot be bothered—they are focused on the „other,“ somebody who has more than I do, who possesses more: more limbs, more than four of them. Hands reaching to reverse the transformation that already began.
A fragmented body prevails. A slow replacement: children disintegrate into animals—not metaphorically, but structurally, as if identity were penetrable. Insects birds, hidden creatures lurk in patterns and postures—not only as inhabitants of fabric and surroundings, but as future inhabitants: contemplative, waiting, inhaling the same air. What if it is not the cyborgs and the machines we should fear, but those who share our breath and remain still? Behavioral insecurity becomes a collective ecology—a dynamic where human beings are surpassed.
