Celebrating 20 years of Colab Gallery, shared with friends, supporters and our gallery team.

A heartfelt thank you to Jürgen & Lucas Huemer for an incredible menu and to Amigo for the fresh performance.

The gallery is now closed while we take down the current exhibition and install a new one. We’ll reopen our doors on Saturday, 13 June with a fresh exhibition. More info coming soon.

👉 Olf (*1994) is a Berlin-based and internationally active photographer whose work is strongly influenced by the artistic documentary tradition of photography. All of his work is published under his alias OLF.

Born and raised in the south of Germany, OLF discovered his passion for photography after his older brother gifted him his first polaroid camera when he was only eight years old. After moving to the German capital Berlin in 2016 he quickly began to document and appreciate the work of different subcultures.

OLF also has a knack for making videos, creating paintings and generally enjoys reclaiming the urban space. All these various artistic endeavors contribute to his ever evolving profile as an artist.
OLF’s work has been exhibited all over the world most notably in Berlin, Brussels, Melbourne, China and Rome. He currently resides in Berlin working on international long term projects.

👉 Jay Doubleyou is an Australian documentary photographer currently based in Paris. Working mainly with film, his practice moves between everyday life and adventure, focusing on the quiet details found while exploring cities and landscapes around the world. His extensive travels inform a perspective grounded in observation, reflecting an interest in people and place and an appreciation for the small, unplanned moments that define them.

His work has been exhibited in Australia, Europe, and the United States, and featured in international publications.

Captured and Composed - final week

As curator of this exhibition at CoLab Gallery, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to more than 7500 visitors who came to experience the show, to all participating artists, our generous supporters and the gallery team making it possible.
This exhibition was an experiment for us, placing a focus on photography (within urban art) and we are positive to see how warmly this approach has been received.

It has been a beautiful journey and we are happy to share some impressions with you.

We are entering the last week of the show before closing temporarily to reorganize our gallery space for what’s next.
We will return with a new exhibition opening on June 13th. More info soon.

“Captured & Composed” brings together photographers and painters whose practices span from documenting everyday life to exploring adventure, memory, and movement. The exhibition draws connections between the immediacy of the lens and the deliberation of the painted surface, highlighting how both mediums frame and construct the visible world. 👉 Confeere is a Portuguese urban artist, who uses large-scale installations and recycled materials to engage with social and technological themes in public spaces.

One of his prominent works, titled “Reality Blocker”, addresses how technology and our mobile-phone culture can alienate us from our surroundings, the figure in the piece symbolizes being absorbed by the screen and detached from reality.

By choosing textiles and other unexpected materials for urban art Confeere pushes the boundaries of street art into installation and environmental commentary, making his work both visually arresting and conceptually rich.

👉 In the work of Aldo van den Broek, architecture becomes a vessel for memory, decay, and renewal. His paintings and installations emerge from a process of layering, erasing, and reconstruction — a continuous act of building and unbuilding. The surfaces he creates bear the physical traces of time: fragments of cardboard, mesh, soil, and paint fused into compositions that oscillate between structure and erosion.

Van den Broek approaches painting as an archaeological site. He reuses fragments of his own previous works, treating them as foundations for new beginnings. Each piece becomes a palimpsest, where the residues of former gestures, colors, and materials remain visible beneath newly applied layers — a visual history of persistence and transformation.

Working both inside and outside the studio, Van den Broek allows natural forces — rain, sunlight, wind — to intervene in his process. These uncontrolled elements blur the line between intention and accident, imbuing his constructions with the quiet inevitability of decay.

In dialogue with the themes of Captured & Composed, Van den Broek’s practice reflects on how images are shaped not only by the artist’s hand but by time itself — revealing that what erodes can also endure, and that every ruin carries within it the blueprint for renewal.
