Tender title:
Ceredigion Museum: Creative Practitioner for Museum Display Interventions

Ceredigion County Council is about to embark on a capital project to conserve The Coliseum, the home of Ceredigion Museum. This work will require a period of closure, creating an opportunity to refresh the Museum’s permanent displays in advance of reopening.

As part of this programme, Ceredigion Museum will work in partnership with Common Cause Foundation to foreground shared compassionate values that encourage positive social and environmental behaviours. These values will be embedded within refreshed permanent displays through creative, community-led interventions.

A key element of the project is the co-creation of creative interventions using museum collections and resources, working closely with communities that are currently underrepresented in the Museum, including people with protected characteristics.

It’s time to q***r up the museum collection – and you can be part of it!

‘Pockets of Pride’ is a series of three creative workshops for LGBTQI+ people where we will come together as a group to put a q***r spin on traditional Eisteddfod purses.

These purses were small prize bags – often elaborately decorated – given to winners of Eisteddfod competitions in the past. The winners would proudly wear them throughout the festival week.

In our playful sessions, you will be supported to stitch, fold and stick a pouch, pocket or purse. Each piece will have its own unique ‘purse-onality’, reflecting your own stories!

The group’s creations will form part of a new permanent LGBTQI+ display at Ceredigion Museum.

Mae ‘Pocedi o Falchder’ yn gyfres o dri gweithdy creadigol ar gyfer pobl sy’n perthyn i’r gymuned LHDTCRh+ lle byddwn yn dod ynghyd i roi ein stamp ein hunain ar byrsiau traddodiadol yr Eisteddfod.

Bagiau bach oedd y pyrsiau hyn – yn aml wedi'u haddurno'n gywrain – a roddid fel gwobr i enillwyr cystadlaethau’r Eisteddfod yn y gorffennol. Byddai'r enillwyr yn eu gwisgo’n falch trwy gydol wythnos yr ŵyl.

Yn ein sesiynau llawn hwyl, byddwch yn cael cymorth i wnïo, plygu a gludo bag, poced neu bwrs. Bydd gan bob un ohonynt ei ‘bwrsonoliaeth’ unigryw ei hun, gan adlewyrchu eich straeon chi!

Bydd creadigaethau'r grŵp yn rhan o’r arddangosfa LHDTCRh+ parhaol newydd yn Amgueddfa Ceredigion.

We are very happy that the National Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru | The National Library of Wales is hosting a Portable Antiquities Scheme Finds Day, which we've had the pleasure of doing before our closure. If you've found any old objects that you'd like to have identified by an expert, here's your chance!

👯‍♀️ Adelle, Nicola, and our newest FLO Beth, will be at the National Library of Wales on Saturday 13 December! 🏛️

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 We are looking to record artefacts from mid Wales to improve representation of Wales in the archaeological record. We know Wales has been an important and thriving place throughout history, but the finds records are sparse. We know it’s due in part to accessibility of PAS recording, so help us fill in these gaps by recording your finds!

⚔️ We will record any finds 300+ years old, from anywhere in Wales and England. If you have finds that you’re not sure how old, or what they are, bring them along and we’ll be happy to help you identify them!

🖍️ We’ll have colouring pages and word searches as well as a handling collection of real and replica artefacts, so if you just fancy stopping by for a chat, we’d love to have you!

🤝 We are thrilled to be be joined by the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales again, so swing by and check out some of the archaeological projects they’re working on!
