Brook Rural Museum Now Open! Sat - Mon, 2 - 4pm. As well as the usual opening hours, we offer tours throughout the year for both interested groups and schools.

Museum dedicated to agricultural & rural history of Kent, housed in 14th century barn & 19th century oast house

Today we're celebrating the beautiful art of embroidery with two wonderful patriotic pieces from our collection, currently on display in our latest exhibition - Brook Digs For Victory - the effects of WWII on agriculture in Kent.

These hand stitched treasures are a reminder that embroidery has long been used to tell stories, commemorate events and express creativity. They have also provided the inspiration for something exciting...

✨ A Beginner's Embroidery Workshop is coming soon! Using a brand-new design inspired by our collection, the workshop will be the perfect opportunity to learn some basic stitches and create your own piece to take home.

We're so excited to announce that Brook Rural Museum has received initial support from The National Lottery Heritage Fun...

We're so excited to announce that Brook Rural Museum has received initial support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund for a project to protect the future of the museum and ensure our beautiful buildings remain standing for generations to come.

The museum has been awarded a development grant of £218,000 to progress plans for the project so that we can apply for a full grant of £1,468,000 at a later date.

The full project will address critical structural issues including damp and water ingress, as well as deliver improvements to accessibility, a pergola to provide shelter in the museum’s courtyard, a food & drink offering and better interpretation, all of which will make the museum more readily accessible to all, and deepen public understanding and engagement.
