So… what is an open call?
Think of it as a big, friendly invitation to share something you’ve made, whether you proudly call yourself an artist, quietly make things at the kitchen table, or only create when the moon is right and the house is quiet.
An open call simply means anyone can submit a piece of work for a chance to be part of an exhibition. No secret handshake, no art degree required, no need to have a “style” or a “practice” (unless you want to).
If you’ve made something you’re proud of, a painting, a print, a collage, a sculpture, a textile piece, anything, you’re invited.
At Wye Gallery & Studio, we especially welcome people who’ve never shown their work before. If you’ve ever thought, “I’d love to, but I’m not really an artist…” this is literally for you. Bring your curiosity, your creativity, and that piece you’ve been hiding in a drawer. We promise a warm, supportive space and a community cheering you on.
A panel will look through all the submissions and choose which pieces will be included. And yes, not every piece will be selected, but that’s part of the process, not a judgement on you or your creativity. If you’ve made something you love, something that surprised you, something that’s been hiding in a drawer for months… we’d genuinely love to see it.
If you’re making things, you’re an artist. You just might not have admitted it to yourself yet.
