I accidentally kept you waiting an extra day for this one, but hopefully you will forgive me!

It's been eagerly awaited and it's finally here, beautifully modelled as a sash by

Did you know, the term "bothy" derives from bothan, the Scottish Gaelic word for a hut or cottage?

We love a wee hoosie in the studio, there is something incredibly cute about something in miniature!

Though I'm afraid the gorgeous reclaimed whisky barrel key rack with the row of blue houses sold just after I took the picture, after being on the shelf a whole 24 hours. Her rainbow sibling is still looking for her forever home.

I found these pictures online and they really made me smile.

People talk a lot about instincts. Killer instinct for ruthless business practice, maternal instinct, fight or flight instinct. But I like to think one of our most basic human instincts is "make a little thing, show our friends".

Humans have always created, pottery, folk art, poetry, music, clothing and more. We gather around fires and make together. Communities woven together with threads and words.

So next time you break out your paints, think about an Egyptian living 3,400 years ago doing exactly the same. Isn't that extraordinary?

Did you know this week is National Volunteer Week?

As a not for profit social enterprise, we simply could not exist without our volunteers! We have an incredible team of eleven women, many of them artists, who selflessly give up their time every week to keep the studio doors open.

Directions, help choosing a gift, local knowledge, or just a good chat, you can always find what you need in Studio 1. You'll meet the kindest, funniest, cleverest and prettiest crew inside!

Many of our team are also artists and makers themselves, so do stop by and say hello!
