Today, we came to the end of our current exhibition ‘Care & Defiance’, a collaboration between Centrala and LUNA .photobham - a photography group championing women and non-binary photographers in the Midlands and beyond.

A lovely visitor and poet Annie shares her thoughts about the exhibition and its theme of womanhood through its many facets.

A big thank you to everyone that visited, collaborated and assisted!

Next week’s Digbeth First Friday sees the launch of our new exhibition, The Space Between.

Bringing together works by Alicja Rogalska, Jana Shostak, Radu-Mihai Tanasă, Anna Knapp & Amir Jan, and Małgorzata Dawidek, the exhibition examines migration not as a singular narrative, but as a complex social, political, and deeply personal condition. Through video, the artists engage with questions of displacement, borders, identity, labour, language, visibility, and belonging, while reflecting on how migration is represented and understood within contemporary public discourse.

The greatest of thanks to alpine experimentalists Bégayer for debuting their new narrative performance at Centrala last Monday! They combined handcrafted instruments and props, Radio-amplifiers, circuit bending and early music influences into a mesmerising performance.

Support came from Al Hutchins (who's appeared here before as frontman of The Courtesy Group) who treated the audience to an animated recital of his anthology Rebel Admin.
