A little more than a vase of flowers.

Before photography, botanical paintings captured the extraordinary detail of the natural world.

Every petal, leaf and tiny creature was an opportunity to study nature — but also to celebrate its beauty.

Centuries later, these richly detailed floral compositions still have the power to stop us in our tracks.

A little history, a little romance, and a lot of colour.

A design revolution that started in 1919.

When the Bauhaus school opened in Germany, its founders had a radical idea: art, design and everyday life should belong together.

The movement rejected unnecessary decoration in favour of bold shapes, clean lines and functional design.

More than a century later, its influence is everywhere — from architecture and furniture to typography and graphic art.

And those wonderfully simple geometric shapes? Still looking remarkably modern.

Drawing with scissors.

In the later years of his life, Henri Matisse developed a remarkable new way of making art.

Rather than painting or drawing, he began cutting shapes directly from sheets of paper painted with gouache, arranging them into bold, expressive compositions.

His famous Blue Nudes series, created in 1952, is among the best-known examples of this technique.

Using just blue shapes against white backgrounds, Matisse captured the human figure with an extraordinary sense of movement and simplicity.

Proof that sometimes taking things away can make an artwork even more powerful.

A little mischief for your walls.

A black cat, a bold yellow background and plenty of personality.

We love prints that don't take themselves too seriously. A little humour, a little colour and something that makes you smile every time you walk past.

Good art can be fun, too.

A little something unexpected.

Sardines, stripes and a splash of pink.

Who says wall art has to be serious?

Sometimes a playful print is exactly what a room needs.

A little eccentricity goes a long way.

Three wide-eyed cats. A surreal splash of colour. A fashion statement that refuses to be ignored.

Not an obvious combination, perhaps. But that's half the fun.

Art should make you look twice, make you smile, or simply make you feel something.

You have an eye for it.

POV: you've discovered Japanese ink art.

Expressive, playful and full of character.

These wonderful ink drawings by Japanese artist Matsumoto Hōji date back to the Edo period, over 200 years ago.

With just a brush, black ink and a wonderfully individual sense of humour, Hōji created animals that still feel remarkably fresh today.

A little piece of Japanese art history for your walls.

Different eras. Different styles. One beautiful combination.

Traditional Japanese ink art alongside vintage black-and-white photography.

Proof that artwork doesn't need to match to work beautifully together.

Sometimes the most interesting combinations are the unexpected ones.
