We are a small family-run company, lucky enough to be based in Kent, with a shop in Burgate, Canterbury. Set up in the Jubilee year, Happy & Glorious brings you beautiful gifts and products for your home, with a thoroughly British twist. We were inspired by Mary Portas and her challenge to re-ignite the British manufacturing industry. There are many wonderful things that we still need to import from around the world. But if we can create or grow it here, it's nice to keep it local. All of our products are made in the UK, to support British manufacturing, applaud British talent, and keep our carbon footprint to a minimum. The designers and makers of these lovely things have been paid a fair wage for their hard work. Now that's cause for a celebration!

Ms Portas has been my hero for about 20 years, and her television series Mary's Bottom Line (all about British manufacturing) inspired me to set up Happy & Glorious back in 2012.

Her love for the high street and community, her championing of small business, and deep sense of fairness, kindness and fun, make her a very worthy hero.

I'm completely in love with this iridescent damselfly necklace by

One of my favourite things about being a shopkeeper is planning and installing the window displays!

Here are all the things I need for a successful window displayeach month...

Comfy slippers as it gets chilly up there in autumn and winter. And also they don't leave footprints.

A fab, seasonal colour scheme to inspire passers-by to come into the shop.

A helper, ideally human but if not, mechanical!

Taking a moment to step back and see how it's looking - it's all too easy to get completely absorbed in the process.

And tea, tea, TEA.
