We’re open again today from 11:00 plus with a classic motorbike display!! Today if your FINAL chance to see our engines running before our September steaming so get on down here!! We’re on Coniscliffe Road in Darlington next to the Broken Scar Picnic Area and near the Baydale Beck Inn

Today’s the day!! We’re open 11:00-17:00!

It’s only a day to go until our June open weekend!! Today’s task is getting our beam engine warmed up to run tomorrow! With a steam engine, you can’t just start it straight from cold, you have to ensure she’s sufficiently warmed up prior to prevent the steam condensing in the cylinders back into water and potentially causing a hydraulic lock!

Our 1902 Lancashire Boiler was lit last Sunday and has been slowly heating up and building steam pressure to run the beam engine this weekend!! Why don’t you come down for yourself to see them in action!

Ok people get them diaries out!!
Only 1 week to go till our June 2026 Steaming weekend!! This year featuring a classic bike rally too!! Our historic pumping engines and equipment will be running on both days from 11:00am-5:00pm alongside many other exciting historic attractions on our site too! Don’t forget the miniature railway running rides and the delicious food in the cafe too!!

June is almost upon us which means less than a month till our June open weekend!!! Join us on Saturday 20 & Sunday 21 June for our steaming! We’ve got a classic bike rally on Sunday 21 and our stunning pumping engines will be running on both days of course! The miniature railway will be running rides, the cafe will be serving delicious hot and cold food & drink on both days too and our other attractions on site will be open and working too!

We have some very sad news.

We have been forced to close the Pumping Station until further notice. This is beyond our control but necessary for what we hope is the short term.
