The Found Gallery A place to discover art, craft and handmade finds from across the British Isles. Contemporary art • Prints • Ceramics • Jewellery • Gifts Simon & Amy

The found gallery showcases the best of British arts and crafts. We display a diverse and eclectic collection of work from talented makers we have been lucky enough to work and exhibit alongside over the last 10 years. Much of the work can only be bought here or directly from the makers themselves. As well as showcasing the best of British we also try to support makers who recycle and upcyle their products. Indeed, most of the fitting in the gallery are recycled from found objects - from broken antiques to industrial fittings and salvage yard scrap! If you are searching for a special present, some artwork for your walls, or just fancy a browse, the found gallery is a welcoming place to spend a few minutes. We hope to see you soon.

From the olive leaves of Spain to the woodlands of Scotland, nature is never far from the heart of Ana Herranz’s beautiful silver jewellery.

We loved sharing Ana’s story in our Found at Found feature in The Cryer, exploring how her Spanish roots, love of nature and fascination with texture have shaped her work.
And this afternoon, Ana is joining us at The Found Gallery as part of the Dunbar Art Route!

She’ll be bringing along some of her tools, inspiration and a glimpse into the fascinating sand-casting process she uses to create her jewellery.

A lovely chance to meet the maker, ask questions and discover the stories behind her designs.

Have you spotted our regular Found at Found feature in The Cryer?

Each issue, we share the stories behind some of the wonderful artists and makers whose work you’ll find in the gallery.

In the August issue the feature introduced printmaker Jill Hodge, whose beautifully layered prints capture the shifting colours, light and atmosphere of Scotland’s coastlines. And today, you can meet Jill in person!

As part of the Dunbar Art Route, Jill will be joining us in the gallery this morning, bringing along some of her printing plates and sharing a little of the fascinating process behind her work.

Sunday just got even bigger and better! 🎨
We’re rounding off the Dunbar Art Route with FIVE wonderful artists and makers at The Found Gallery on Sunday!

Alongside Avril Scott, Eve Sladdin and Daniel Murray, we’re delighted to welcome two more artists!

🎨 Elizabeth deBechi – Based in East Linton, Elizabeth creates expressive, often large-scale acrylic paintings inspired by the forces of the natural world. Working intuitively, she builds and reworks layers of colour and texture until each painting finds its own balance.

🏺 Douglas White – An East Linton potter creating beautiful hand-thrown stoneware. Working from his home studio, Douglas experiments with traditional glazes and firing techniques, including wood firing, to produce distinctive pieces that are both functional and beautiful.

🌊 Avril Scott – A mixed media artist whose wonderfully textured landscapes capture the shorelines, shifting tides and sandy beaches of Portobello and East Lothian. Avril will share her creative process, bringing along materials and works in progress to demonstrate how she builds up layers and textures using plaster paste.

🌿 Eve Sladdin – A local printmaker whose beautiful linocuts celebrate the birds, plants and landscapes around her Aberlady home. Eve will bring her portable printing press and demonstrate the process from rolling out the ink to that exciting moment when the finished print is revealed.

🖌️ Daniel Murray – A Scottish Portrait Award winner whose work spans detailed botanical studies, portraits and figurative painting. Daniel will be sharing his portrait-painting techniques, offering a fascinating glimpse into how he develops his work and brings a painting to life.

It’s your last chance to enjoy this year’s Dunbar Art Route. Pop in, meet the artists and see their creative processes in action.

Get creative with us this Saturday! ✨

Saturday at The Found Gallery is all about exploring materials, discovering new techniques and meeting some wonderful makers as part of the Dunbar Art Route.

In the morning, we’ll be joined by Janette Sumner and Jackie Hunter.
🎨 Janette is a mixed media artist whose abstract landscapes are inspired by the colours, textures and ever-changing light of Scotland’s natural surroundings.
She’ll be bringing her sketchbooks, handmade collage papers and a wonderful collection of found mark-making tools, including twigs and driftwood! Janette will be showing us how she builds up her richly layered work using paint, ink and collage, and there’ll be a chance for visitors to have a go too. A lovely opportunity to get a little creative!

🌊 Alongside Janette, we’ll welcome local ceramicist Jackie Hunter, whose beautiful handbuilt porcelain pieces take inspiration from the East Lothian coastline. Think delicate shapes, textures inspired by shells and sand, and gorgeous contrasts between raw white porcelain and colourful glazes.

In the afternoon, we’ll be joined by Ana Herranz and Rebecca Dover.
💍 Edinburgh-based jeweller Ana creates beautifully understated silver jewellery inspired by the natural world, particularly the shapes and textures of leaves. She’ll be bringing tools, inspiration and a display exploring her fascinating sand-casting process.

⛰️ Landscape painter Rebecca Dover will also be setting up her paints in the gallery, working on a piece and chatting with visitors about her process and the places that inspire her.
It’s a day full of colour, texture, creativity and plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

We’d love you to pop in and say hello!

A little peek behind the artwork... 🎨

We’re kicking off the Dunbar Art Route on Friday with two wonderful artists joining us at The Found Gallery!

In the morning, we’ll be welcoming printmaker Jill Hodge.
Ever wondered how a fine art print is made? Jill will be bringing along some of her printing plates and sharing the fascinating processes behind her work. Inspired by landscapes and seascapes, Jill builds her prints through layers of colour, texture and marks to capture the atmosphere of a place. It’s a lovely opportunity to see what goes into creating a finished print and ask a few questions along the way.

In the afternoon, Alan Richmond will be joining us with his paints and brushes.
Alan creates beautifully atmospheric, abstract landscapes inspired by Scotland’s Highlands and Islands. Rather than painting every detail, he captures the feeling of a place, leaving a little to your imagination. He’ll be painting in the gallery, sharing his methods and some of the places and images that inspire him.

Two very different approaches to landscape, and a lovely chance to see a little of the magic behind the finished work.

Come and join us!
