🎩 The Holloway Story Announcement 🚨

We are excited to announce an upcoming project that will be supported and hosted by our museum…
The Holloway Story is a documentary series produced by Leo John Davies (LJD Histories). Over three episodes, Leo will explore the life and legacy of Thomas Holloway, founder of Royal Holloway University. A journey that goes across England and through three different countries, finding its way back to our area.

More information to come over the next couple of weeks, however, The Holloway Story will be launched at the Literary Institute on the 14th August and we’d love to see you there.
In addition to the documentary, there will also be light activities, food, and interpretation, as well as items from our collection and from the making of the series.

Another amazing Magna Carta Weekend 🎉

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello during last week’s Magna Carta celebrations!

The weekend gave us a wonderful opportunity to reflect on everything we’ve achieved over the past two years through our Heritage Fund-supported projects, as well as the fantastic community partnerships that have helped make it all possible.

We also spent time at Runnymede Meadows, meeting visitors from near and far, sharing the work we do in the community, and exploring different perspectives on the legacy of Magna Carta.

A special thank you to Egham Fire Station for taking part in the celebrations with their museum exhibition, proudly guarded by Dexter the Fire Dog. We are also incredibly grateful for the vital work the station’s team does every day to help keep our community safe.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the weekend such a success, and to all those who have supported us throughout the past few years. We can’t wait for the adventures ahead as we continue celebrating and sharing our local heritage.

👑 The celebrations just keep coming!

Head on over to the Egham Fire Station on Magna Carta Day (this Saturday!) to learn about the history of an organisation that continues to keep our community safe.

This is part of the 2026 Magna Carta Day celebrations, an exciting time for our community, as we appreciate 811 year of equality before the law.

You can also find us at the United Church on Egham High Street for a wonderful exhibition looking back on what we’ve been up to over the past two years, supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
This exhibit will be up from 10th-13th June. See our other post for more information!

☘️ We’re coming back to Runnymede!

This Sunday, our museum will be hosting an exciting stall at the Runnymede Meadows as part of our 2026 Magna Carta celebrations.

We will have freebies, a small exhibit, and some exciting artefacts from our collection!

Last year, we spoke to almost 200 people and talked about the 10th anniversary of Magna Carta 800, an important community memory.

This year, we’ll be talk about why the myths of Magna Carta matter! Expanding on from the 2026 Young Creators Project, a collaboration with and .

🖼️ Step into the story of our community and discover the creativity it continues to inspire.

From Wednesday 10th to Saturday 13th June, join us at the United Church of Egham for Our Community: Then and Now, a special exhibition celebrating the people and places that make our area amazing.

Over the past two years, we have worked with local residents, schools, families, and community groups to explore Egham’s rich history through creative projects. This exhibition brings together the artwork, poetry, memories, and more that we all produced during those sessions, showcasing the local talent of our community.

Our area is important for many reasons and we are proud to boast a rich local history.
However, there is one story that we all know…
Magna Carta.

Sealed on the 15th June 1215, 811 years ago this Monday, the Great Charter would forever change political history and strive for equality before the law for all, even the crown.

We have exciting plans for Magna Carta Day 2026!

🖼️ From Wed 10th - Sat 13th June we will be hosting an exhibition at The United Church of Egham to showcase the talents of ‘Our community: Then and Now’.

We will display artworks, poetry and more created during our community engagement projects over the past two years & explore the history of community in our area.

The exhibition will open Wed-Fri (11am - 3pm) and Sat 13th (10am - 4pm). We will have family activities available on Magna Carta Day (Sat 13th).

🚒 Also on Sat 13th June we will have an exhibition at Egham Fire Station as part of their open day which is free to attend with no booking necessary. The exhibition is about the history of firefighting in Egham and includes photos of Egham’s past fire brigades.

📜 On Sun 14th June, we will have a stall with a display about the myths of Magna Carta, as well as showcasing exciting objects.

Our musuem will also be open as usual on Magna Carta Day (Saturday 13th June).

✍️ Museum and Heritage Conference 2026

It was an insightful day in London for our team to visit the 2026 Museum and Heritage Conference last week. Becky, Nick, and Katie had a great time learning about exciting innovations in the sector and seeing how we can continue to improve our own delivery at the our own museum.

A highlight was definitely seeing Dr. Samantha Evans, one of our trustees and lecturer at Royal Holloway University, speak at an important talk on Class Inequalities in Museums.
