May.

Had a wonderful time in the studio experimenting with new materials and getting ready for my collection launch in June. Sign up to my newsletter via the link in bio for first access.

Ended May with a lovely family holiday in France where our car broke down and we spent the week trying to figure out how to get back home.

More of the former, less of the latter please for June!

Some of my paintings carry a lot of history in them. You can feel it when you stand in front of them, the weight of everything that went into getting there.

This one feels lighter than that. There’s an openness to it, an energy that stayed from the very first marks.

Wild and Wonderful | 50 x 50 cm | Acrylic and mixed media. Available via the link in bio.

Experimentation is a vital part of my process. It keeps things fresh. Without it I think my work would start to feel stale, and so would I.

I usually do this kind of exploring alongside my main practice. Oil paint, raw canvas, unstretched canvas. Not instead of the work, but alongside. To see if there’s something I’d like to change about the way I currently work, and if there is something new worth bringing in.

It’s just as much for my own enjoyment as it is to keep continuously improving my skills and my work.

I’m fascinated with how two colours next to each other can create a kind of humming sensation. It’s the same mesmerising feeling as staring into the sea where you can’t quite look away.

Part of the collection I’ve been building towards for June.

There’s a warm and fuzzy feeling I get when caught in summer rain. Calming but exciting at the same time.

Summer Rain | 70 x 80 cm | Acrylic and mixed media | £1,100

My prices will go up in June with the new collection. If this one has been on your mind, now is a good time.

This piece is from a series I made two years ago, just after I moved to the coast.

You can see where my work was heading. There’s still some geometry to it, a bit of structure, but it’s already starting to loosen and has that yellow glow. Something was shifting, and this painting is right in the middle of that.

Embrace Turning Tides VI | 20 x 20 cm | Acrylic and mixed media on wood panel, framed | £250

Available via the link in bio.

I’ve always been drawn to large paintings in museums. There’s something about standing in front of something that big, where you feel both overwhelmed by it and somehow inside it at the same time.

That’s also what it felt like to paint this one. It’s the largest piece I’ve ever made, and it asks something different of both the painter and the viewer. You’re not looking at it, you’re in it.

This piece will be part or my collection launching in June.
