Excited to be hosting our first watercolour workshop with Graham Wands at Glamis! Graham has been painting since as long as he can remember, teaching classes originally in the borders and at his previous Alyth studio until the floods forced his move. He has finally agreed to run a workshop on Thursday 18th June at Glamis! Places are limited and it’s filling up fast.. A waiting list will be made if demand dictates another be held in July.

Suitable for all levels. Materials provided. Book direct with Graham as per poster!

Sandwiches are available at the cafe or bring a packed lunch. Tea and coffee provided.

WORKSHOP NEWS!!

We have 2 workshops coming up very soon! The first is on Sunday 7th June - a days session for wool addicts learning how to prepare wool with Fred, our resident spinner, dyer and weaver and wool/batts supplier to the public.. you will prepare wool from sheep, goat and alpaca and learn how to scour, pick, card and comb.. moving on to using drop spindles and trying your hand on the spinning wheel later.

Luxury lunch platters from the Gin Bothy are available to purchase separately £10pp .. or bring a packed lunch.. strawberries, tea and coffee provided. 😊

A huge thanks to all who popped in this weekend.. great to see so many faces, both old and new! The artists are exhausted after such a flurry of activity! The demo by Jonathan Mitchell Artworks went down a treat and people are signing up for forthcoming workshops with Fred, Graham and Jonathan.. more on that tomorrow! We are back to our usual opening time of 11am from Wednesday to Sunday .. meanwhile, heres Rab McPherson - a stunning collectors piece in all his glory.. out in his handmade leather shoes and custom tweeds with his lunch choices to hand! Maker Svetlana Gaft.

Final day of open studios tomorrow (Monday) so would be fabulous to support artists and makers during Strathmore Open Studios .. refreshments and some snacks available at the The Bothy Experience and a painting demo between 1-3pm .. currently booked up but if you want to drift in and watch at the back for a wee while that’s fine.. we are just restricted due to the number of chairs available! It’s hot out there so please remember we are dog friendly.. no need to cook your pooch in the car!

the event encompasses studios along the vale between Glamis through to Rattray.. refreshments available here and along the trail!
