Join us at the Meffan Museum & Art Gallery for a special afternoon with artist Victoria Wylie

Victoria will lead an intimate gallery tour, sharing insight into her work, creative process, and the stories behind selected pieces on display. The afternoon will continue with a live painting demonstration, offering visitors the chance to watch her techniques unfold in real time and gain a deeper understanding of her artistic approach.

Whether you’re an art enthusiast, an aspiring artist, or simply curious, this is a unique opportunity to engage directly with a practicing artist, ask questions, and experience creativity up close.

Free admission - all are welcome.

This is such a wonderful inspiring place to visit and see Lamb's work up close - worth a visit!

🎨 Step inside the former home and studio of renowned Scottish sculptor William Lamb and experience a truly unique artistic space 🖌️

Lamb sculpted many society figures, including the Queen Mother and both Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret as young girls, but his main body of work was inspired by the everyday people and places around Montrose.

Step inside the studio where he created iconic pieces inspired by Angus life and landscapes, and see his workroom and living room, featuring self-styled furniture.

Looking for something relaxing to do during your week?

Victoria Wylies exhibition 'Beyond the Horizon' is currently on display at The Meffan Museum and Art Gallery.
Victorias abstract landscapes and her signature calming blue hues in her artwork make it a great destination to relax your mind. Sitting in the gallery you can also listen to a custom made soundtrack made by Victoria's husband, that captures the sounds of nature from the landscapes she paints.

The Meffan Museum is open 6 days a week. (Closed Tuesdays)
Open from 10:30am until 4pm.
Free Entry and Dog Friendly too!

There will are still spaces left for our picts talk on Sunday the 17th of May, and the following Sunday the 24th.

The talk lasts for 1 hour, so enjoy a seated experience sitting amongst our Pictish Stones and learn about the history of the picts in Angus. refreshments are also provided as part of the experience.

To commemorate the anniversary of the Battle of Dunnichen, we invite you to a guided tour of the Meffan Museum that includes our Pictish stone display and the impressive Dunnichen stone.

Hello everyone

Visitor Advisor Shaun here at The Meffan Museum & Art Gallery , sharing with you my favourite work of art from our fantastic current exhibition "Beyond the Horizon" by Victoria Wylie - Artist

One of my favourite artworks on display is 'First Light After', which is made from Acrylic on canvas. This painting is an interpretation of St Ninian's Beach in Shetland. Sitting in the gallery space, listening to the soundtrack that was specially made for this exhibition i can feel myself transported to those distant shores, with dramatic dark skies and the vast blue of the sea stretching towards the Nordics. I can imagine the waves gently lapping at the stone and sand beneath my feet and the birdsong around me as the cold winds from the north chills the air.

The exhibition is on until 22nd June 2026 and the Meffan Museum & Art Gallery is open each day except Tuesdays, 10.30 am until 4pm, free admission with donations welcome, dog friendly too!
