GLOUCESTER HERITAGE OPEN DAYS
Mark the date in your diary as the Jet Age Museum will be contributing to the Gloucester Heritage Open Days Festival during it's normal open hours of 10am to 4pm on Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th September. In additional to all our usual attractions of open cockpits and displays, we will be uncovering some of our hidden treaures from our museum archives.

On Saturday 12th September only, “The DAVE PARTRIDGE RE-ENACTOR PILOTS” will be on site with all the kit you'll need to be an aviator.

Set against the backdrop of a working airport and home to one of the UK's most remarkable aviation collections, it's a day out with real meaning — and best of all, entry to the museum is always free to enter but we rely upon donations in order to thrive.

THINGS TO DO THIS WEEKEND
The Jet Age Museums' doors will be open again this Saturday and Sunday as normal from 10am to 4pm. From the earliest days of flight to the Cold War and beyond, there's something for every aviation enthusiast and curious family.

Entry to the museum is free, but we do rely upon donations in order to thrive.

EXTRA PUBLIC OPEN DAY (26th August '26)
If you didn't manage to visit the Jet Age Museum over the weekend, we have some good news for you. The museum has an additional opening day TODAY (Wednesday 26th August) from 10am to 4pm.

We have a number of aircraft on display at the museum which were designed and manufactured by the Gloster Aircraft Company during 1920s -1960s

If you are planning to visit the museum this weekend, please be aware that roadworks are taking place on the B4063 Cheltenham Road East near to the museum and Meteor Business Park entrance.

Temporary traffic lights are in place for single line traffic control, the museum access is still open as normal, but there may be a few delays.

We're open as usual this weekend (Sat–Sun 22–23 Aug), plus we have an extra day on Wednesday 26th Aug from 10am–4pm. You can find us at the Meteor Business Park (GL2 9QL) near to Gloucestershire Airport.

Come and see our Gloster Javelin, the first jet fighter with a delta wing or climb in to one of our open cockpits such the Vulcan or Hawker Hunter, there's plenty for the whole family to see.

On this day in history: Remembering Sir Frank Whittle (1907–1996)

Today, Saturday 8th August is the 30th anniversary of the passing of aviation pioneer Sir Frank Whittle, the engineer and inventor credited with creating the Turbojet aircraft engine which powered Britain's first jet powered aircraft, the E.28/39 into the history books.

This aircraft was built by the Gloster Aircraft Company only a few miles away from the Jet Age Museum, and Whittle’s pioneering engine went on to power the Gloster Meteor - Britain’s first operational jet fighter. You can see one of these jets along with a replica of the E.28/39 at the museum today.

Without Whittle’s vision, and without the skill of the local engineers and workers who transformed these ideas into reality, the jet age as we know it may never have taken off from Gloucestershire at all.
Next time you’re at the museum, take a moment in front of our jets and remember Sir Frank Whittle (1907 to 1996)

The Jet Age Museums' doors will be open again this Saturday and Sunday as normal from 10am to 4pm.

Located at the Meteor Business Park (GL2 9QL) near to Gloucestershire Airport, it's a great day out with something for everyone of all ages to enjoy, including a wide range of exhibits, displays and accessible cockpits.

There is no charge for admission but the museum is managed by the dedication of volunteers and without your donations it would not continue to thrive.
