After our amazing summer, our Zoom talks begin again on Monday September 7th at 2.30 pm. Our guest speaker is John Heckels who will take us on a journey round all the wonderful Ray Lonsdale statues. The statues all reflect the history of the north east, Yorkshire and some a bit further afield.
The most famous, seen here is Tommy at Seaham Harbour. Having heard this talk I can recommend it.

This date was chosen to commemorate the Battle of Minden in 1759, in which soldiers from Yorkshire regiments played a significant role, as well as the anniversary of the emancipation of slaves in the British Empire in 1834, a cause championed by Yorkshireman William Wilberforce.
