Meet Sir John Gordon, or rather, his ยฃ3 million marble likeness, the Bouchardon Bust. Sculpted in Rome in 1728, this is a literal face from the era of Jamie and Claire. At the exact moment Sir John was sitting for this portrait, Rome was a hotbed of exiled Jacobite intrigue, and he later became a prominent Scottish politician during the tumultuous years of the 1745 Rising.

Right now, a temporary export bar is stopping the bust from being sold abroad to a private collector. We are on a ticking clock to raise the funds needed to save this piece of Scottish heritage and keep it in Scotland where it belongs.
