A Tale from the Peter Brook Archives...
Ever wondered what happens when London's fine art scene meets Yorkshire's down-to-earth charm? Well, grab a cuppa (or a pint) for this gem from the 1980s...
Picture this: A sophisticated London gallery owner, determined to win Peter Brook's attention, drives all the way up North in her pristine Mercedes with cream leather seats. Her first surprise? Meeting Peter's faithful companion Shep, who promptly made himself at home on those fancy seats! 🐕
The adventure continued as they headed to the legendary Tan Hill Inn (Britain's highest pub, for our southern friends!). Now, if you know Yorkshire, you know our pubs come with... character. 🐑
Our London visitor, probably more used to Mayfair's finest establishments, bravely asked about lunch options:
Landlady: "I can make you a ham sandwich."
London Lady: "Could I have mine on brown bread?"
Landlady: "I only have white bread... but I can toast it to make it brown!" 😄
Peter Brook's art captures the true spirit of Yorkshire - no fancy frills, just honest charm and a good dash of humor!
