The 77 vibrant embroidered panels were made by 4,000 men, women and children from 15 countries between 1981 and 1996, making Quaker Tapestry one of the worlds largest international embroideries. Journey through the Quaker influence on the modern world: explore the industrial revolution, developments in science and medicine, astronomy, the abolition of slavery, social reform, and ecology; and delig

ht in the detail of the stunning needlework and the craftsmanship involved in its creation. Quaker Tapestry Museum is in Kendal town centre, close to the bus and rail station. Our carpark is currently closed to visitors due to building works but many public car parks are close by.

It’s a wrap! The museum, gift shop and online shop are now closed indefinitely. It’s been an honour to share the Quaker Tapestry stories and stitches over the last 31years. Thank you to past and present staff, volunteers, members, donors, visitors, shoppers, supporters, funders, followers, readers and of course the 4,000 people who embroidered the Quaker Tapestry.
Watch this space for future plans being announced next year.
