This weekend some of our Scouts and Explorers have joined other groups from the District at Bewl Water for a Watersports weekend.
After arriving Friday evening and the usual hot chocolate and cake before cosying up in their tents, Saturday morning started with a mist over the reservoir. Turned out to be a good omen though for the weather we had during the day with it being warm but plenty of wind which some of the activities needed.
Before hitting the water and after breakfast, we did flag break and Josh had the honour of doing the flag. We were then told what activity we were doing for the morning session. Scouts were canoeing and Minions were kayaking. We headed down to the water and kitted up. Unfortunately from a photo perspective, once they go off, it’s hard to capture anything for the majority of the session so try and grab what we can from the shoreline.
The afternoon session brought the Scouts & Minions together for sailing. Then broken down into smaller groups depending on boat size, they helped ready the boats before setting off. Well, when the wind allowed them to… It got a bit stronger this afternoon so once they were out in open water, they were soon speeding around.
On return to shore at the end of the session, they helped pull the smaller boats out the water before heading back to camp, a bit damp (some more than others), ready for dinner and as the moon rises over Bewl, (hopefully) tired enough for an early night, before their final session tomorrow morning.
