Pond. Lake. Boaty.

No matter what name our beloved Boating Pond goes by, the one thing we can all agree with is that we can't wait to see it restored in all it's glory with the water flowing once again.

Our "Donate a Duck" digital page is now live where you can donate towards our restoration and ongoing maintenance while also adding a personal message if you wish, and your rubber duck to the raft (that’s the collective noun for a group of ducks, if you didn’t know).

Thanks to some wonderful donors, we already have our raft starting, so join us in helping bring back our Boating Pond.

From factory workers to walking tours, the Dell Bridge has carried many feet since it was built in 1894 so it's no wonder it needs looking after.

This week, we're repointing the stone flags of the bridge and the surrounding steps so that it can continue to carry people across the Dell on their journey through Port Sunlight. Thanks for your patience and support while we complete this essential work.

Work is underway to bring back the Boating Pond 💦

We're progressing with replacing the basin of the structure, which means completely removing the current basin and starting from scratch so that the pond can hold water for many years to come.

Our partners on the project, Grosvenor Construction, have also carefully removed the surrounding stonework and have already made a start on cleaning it.

Thanks for your support and patience while we renew the Boating Pond – we can't wait to see the fountain flowing again in a few months' time.

⚠️ One of the biggest events in the village's events calendar returns on Sunday 7 June – BTR Liverpool's Port Sunlight Road Race – and that means road closures will be in place between 7.30am–2pm across the village.

All residents will receive this information through your letterbox with a reminder to move your car from the road, however if you're planning to visit on that day, see the map below for information about where road closures will be and where you can park. Thank you for your patience and support.

Organised by BTR Liverpool, the Road Race welcomes thousands of runners each year to follow the 5k or 10k route through the village’s leafy streets. This year's edition is generously sponsored by Unilever Port Sunlight. Entries are still open, but be quick: www.btrliverpool.com/events/port-sunlight-10k5k/

This year’s theme, ‘Museums uniting a divided world’, is something we truly believe in 🤝

In 2024, as part of our ongoing work to share the fuller story of this unique village, we introduced new interpretation and objects at Port Sunlight Museum. These explore William Lever, the impacts of colonialism, and the global communities connected to this history.

Museums have the power to connect people across generations, communities and borders. Through the wider work of Port Sunlight Museum, we want to continue to help people engage with the village’s heritage and keep building those connections.
