These striking works by Hilary Simon - Cabbages and Lilies, Guatemala (1993) and Cabbages and Lilies Revisited, Guatemala (2006) - are just a glimpse of what’s possible with silk painting. Now it’s your turn. Join us for an opportunity to begin to learn this beautiful, fluid art form in a one-day immersive workshop.
Guided by Hilary, you’ll discover how to work with French Dupont dyes, experimenting with techniques like salt, layering, alcohol and gutta to create vibrant, flowing effects. After testing ideas, you’ll design and paint your own silk piece - inspired by anything you like, from nature to abstract colour.
No experience needed - just curiosity and creativity!
You’ll leave with new skills, your practice samples, and a finished artwork ready to frame or display.
