Detail of the Day ✨ From a shawl sketch (1977) to a skirt for Rodier (1981)

One of Collier Campbell’s earliest European collaborations was with the French fashion house Rodier, who embraced the sisters’ bold, painterly approach. What began as a circular shawl design - originally created for a special Cosmopolitan promotion - was later transformed into a striking skirt. To preserve its fluid, circular construction, the design was printed as a single panel, complete with waistband and pockets.

Alongside this, Susan and Sarah developed a vibrant range of designs for Rodier, reflecting their wide‑ranging inspirations - from ikat influences to these playful combinations of florals and stripes.

🔍 Keep an eye out for this on display - and explore more of the sisters’ creative journey in Paint! Pattern! Print! The Textiles of Susan Collier and Sarah Campbell on now at the Fashion and Textile Museum in London.
