Building creative communities through exhibitions, events, and more. Artists Studio Company (ASC) is a London based registered charity founded in 1995. Our core aims are to support artists and makers, promote the arts and educate the public in the arts. We are the leading affordable workspace provider to artists and makers in London. We currently support over 800 practitioners and to date we have

managed a total of 22 buildings. We continue to play a major role supporting London’s creative talent, nurturing thousands of individuals and making a huge positive change to the capitals cultural landscape. We are very proud that a great many of our tenants have gone on to become household names. However we place greater value and believe deeply in fostering communities and in reaching out to people who might never have engaged in art. We aim to support creative people from all economic backgrounds and of course from all ethnic backgrounds. We strongly believe art can only be truly relevant when it is open to all.

Spotlight: ASC Artists at SLEEPER 👁️✨

As we count down to the opening of SLEEPER, we’re shining a light on three of our own studio holders at ASC who are featured in the upcoming exhibition.

For these artists, the transition from the private sanctuary of the studio to the public walls of The Handbag Factory is a significant part of the creative journey. Here is what they had to say about the upcoming show and life as an ASC artist:

Jack Hughes |
"I feel a lot of gratitude, but it also means I get to share some of my work with my peers. I am very guarded of my studio space... so I don’t really benefit as much from the communal aspect of being in a shared building as I would like to. This show gives me the opportunity to let other artists see some of the work I am creating. I think that means more to me than anything else."

Joonhong Min | .artist
"Maintaining a studio at ASC offers more than just a workspace; it provides a vital connection to a dynamic community of artists... ASC’s project spaces serve as invaluable platforms for artistic experimentation, allowing me to push the boundaries of my practice."

Samantha Fellows |
"I feel very privileged... I've been a fan of many of the artists in the show for a while and so I'm really looking forward to showing alongside them. It’s my second time exhibiting at The Handbag Factory - it is such a great space and a great location."

SLEEPER also features works by Lucy Spanyol, Leigh Curtis, Adam Dix, and Nell Mitchell, bringing together seven unique voices exploring the subconscious. Keep an eye out for our next spotlight, where we will be highlighting the following artists.
