HISTORICAL TALKS AT LUTTERWORTH MUSEUM

The next in our series of historical talks in the Highpoint Suite at Lutterworth Museum will be on Thursday 21st May at 7.30pm. The talk will be on the 1st Duke of Bickingham, George Villiers. Born in Brooksby in Leicestershire he rose to be a courtier and a favourite of King James I.

The talk will be by Alison Clague, Senior Curator at Leicestershire County Council.

Tickets (just £5) available from the Museum or on the door. It promised to be a fascinating evening.

ENEMY ALIENS IN WW2 LUTTERWORTH.
Germans and Austrians were living locally at the beginning of World War II. Why were they here? Why did they disappear? Why a local internment camp. All this will be explained by our guest speaker, Carol Cambers, in the latest historical talk at Lutterworth & District Museum.
The talk is on Saturday 25th April at 10.30am. Tickets are just £5 each and are available from the Museum or on the door (subject to availability).

Tony Hirons and Rob Coleman, Trustees of Lutterworth & District Museum together with Ian Whittle (son of Sir Frank) together with his wife Hilary, in Westminster Hall before afternoon tea and a tour of The House of Commons with Alberto Costa MP. Lovely to catch up again with Ian who last year opened the new gallery in the Museum, dedicated to the History of Flight. Ian hopes to visit the Museum again in the Spring.

Are you looking to trace your Family history? This Saturday in Lutterworth & District Museum we will be running an insightful & comprehensive presentation on how to use Ancestry.com to explore & research your family history.
The event will be held on the Heritage suite above the Museum at 10.30am on Saturday 31st Jan.
Tickets are available from the Museum beforehand (price £3.00) or on the door – but the maximum for the room is 60 people – so why not pop in, enjoy the Museum and purchase your ticket.
Museum opening times: Thurs – Sat 10.30am – Sunday 1.00pm – 3.30pm

HISTORICAL TALKS AT LUTTERWORTH MUSEUM

Saturday 24th January will see the first of a number of historical talks, on a wide range of subjects, to be held in The Heritage Suite, the upstairs room of the Lutterworth & District Museum in the Highpoint Building, Market St Lutterworth.
The talk will be given by Peter Liddle, former County Archaeologist on the subject ‘Archaeology of South Leicestershire’. Just £5 per person, (with monies raised going to the Museum) it promises to be a fascinating morning – starting at 10.30am.
No need to book, just come along to he Museum and hear what’s under your feet!

From January, Lutterworth & District Museum will be hosting historical talks by leading experts in the upstairs room of their Highpoint Building. Saturday morning talks will be at 10.30am, evening talks at 7.30pm. £5 per person.
