# 1. **Are the walks free?**
- Yes, all walks are free.

# 2. **What time do the walks start?**
- Most walks start at 11 a.m. (unless otherwise advertised).

# 3. **How far do you walk?**
- Typically between 3 and 5 miles (unless otherwise advertised).

# 4. **How long do the walks last?**
- Walks generally last between 90 and 120 minutes, depending on the pace and stops. Occasionally, longer "Extended" walks are advertised.

# 5. **Why isnโ€™t there a fixed duration or distance for the walks?**
- Our walks vary and adapt based on the group and the dayโ€™s conditions, so they may change at the last minute.

# 6. **Can I bring my dog?**
- Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome, but they must be kept on a lead at all times.

# 7. **Can I bring children?**
- Yes, children are welcome, but anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

# 8. **Do the walks finish where they start?**
- Yes, unless a linear walk is specifically advertised.

# 9. **Are there stiles or other obstacles on the walk?**
- Occasionally, we may need to cross fields or navigate stiles and other barriers. Assistance is always available when needed.

# 10. **Why are the walks free?**
- We are a voluntary group. Our walk leaders offer their time freely and do not get reimbursed. Walks are free, and we donโ€™t charge for membership or entry fees. Any costs, like insurance, are covered through fundraising events (such as quiz nights) or donations.

# 11. **How can I contact you?**
- You can reach us by:
- Clicking the 'Send Message' link on our page.
- Emailing us at **[email protected]**
- Calling us at **07467 834153**
For general questions, feel free to leave a comment, and one of our regular walkers will respond.

# 12. **Why do you not a have a WebSite?**
- We know a website would be useful, but right now we simply do not have the resources to create and maintain one. Websites require: - Time- Money - Technical and Artistic knowledge.
- These are listed in order of what is most precious to us โ€” especially volunteer time.
- We currently use Facebook as our main platform because it is free and allows us to quickly share walk details, photos, and community updates.
- If someone cannot access Facebook, our walk programme can also be found online through Mansfield CVS, at the link they kindly provide. https://www.mansfieldcvs.org/

# 13 ** why do you not walk at weekends?**
# 14 ** why do you not have evening walks?**
- We would like to offer weekend and evening walks, and it has been known to happen. However, due to other commitments, it can be difficult to find the time, and for safety reasons we prefer to have two walk leaders on every walk. There are also plenty of other groups walking at weekends, as many of us are already members of the Ramblers and other walking and hiking groups.

# # Please remember:
- We are a not-for-profit group
- We charge nothing to take part in our walks
- We receive no funding
- Everything we do is voluntary

Helping run the group is part of a positive community service that many of us enjoy and find rewarding.

Sat Nav Postcode: ๐’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’ ๐Ÿ“๐๐‰

As this postcode covers a large area, including Hardwick Hall and the Hardwick Inn, I have included several photos showing the parking area and meeting point.

The suggested meeting location can also be found using What3Words: https://w3w.co/snored.stage.bogus and using (clicking) this link your device may give you the option to give navigation directions.

The second photo includes driving directions for anyone approaching from Doe Lea.

(( Doe Lea may be one of the logical places for those who want to car share as its part of the Pronto Bus route )).

I hope this helps, if it confuses, i'm sorry. At least you have 11days to check it out and get back to me. Maybe you have a better idea?

24 joined me, Peter, on a gentle 4.4 mile walk from the White Swan, Pleasley. We sauntered out across the fields to Oxclose Woods then down past the Wildlife Rescue Centre onto the Archealogical Way. We then went down to the Mills and followed the Meden River back to Meden Square. Lots of fun and laughter all the way which carried on in the White Swan where 16 had liquid refreshments and food. Thanks to everyone who came today you make it a pleasure being a Walk Leader. Thanks to Rob for back marking - Mondays walk is from Brierley Forest car park...

Thank you Peter for leading today, it looks a fun filled Walk and Talk:

16 Walkers on todayโ€™s walk from the Cockle across Oakham nature reserve and along Bleak Hills lane to Kings Mill res.
To-morrowโ€˜s walk is from the White Swan at Pleasley.
๐‘๐จ๐›

Thank you, Rob, for such a wonderful, warm and welcoming summer walk โ€” and also for taking the time and effort to create your very first post here on our Walk and Talk page. I know it can all seem a little complicated at first, but I promise it does get easier ๐Ÿ˜Š

Adding the extra photos and putting together even a simple post like this bit: all takes time, so I do hope everyone thanked you for both the walk and the report โ€” youโ€™re a star โญ

It now falls to me to add the additional photographs from yourself, along with those kindly taken by Peter, Karen, Sue and Tony.

The sunshine, the scenery, the wildlife around the reservoir and, above all, the company made for another lovely afternoon together.

Finally, thank you to everyone at the Cockle for not only the food and drink, but also for allowing us to use the car park. It is always greatly appreciated.

โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿฅพ Sunshine, Smiles and Endless Conversation at Silverhill ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’ฌ

What an uplifting afternoon for our Walk and Talk adventure as 27 of us set off in glorious 22-degree sunshine from Teversal and onwards towards the ever-impressive Silverhill.

Todayโ€™s wander took us through an area steeped in mining history, passing the sites of two great collieries and one of the finest visitor centres in the district โ€” a wonderful reminder of the heritage beneath our feet.

For much of the walk we basked in warm sunshine with a welcome cooling breeze accompanying us across the trails. Then, for the final forty minutes, we escaped into the shaded pathways of Silverhill Wood where the trees offered some welcome relief from the heat. ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒณ

Of course, it wouldnโ€™t quite be a proper Midlands walk without at least a tiny bit of mudโ€ฆ and thankfully we discovered just a smidgen hidden amongst the woodland paths to keep tradition alive ๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐Ÿ˜‚

A huge thank you to everyone who joined today. The atmosphere was absolutely wonderful. At one point the chatter was so constant and cheerful it felt almost deafening โ€” yet nobody was shouting, it was simply dozens of conversations, laughter and friendships all flowing together at once. Moments like that really show what Walk and Talk is all about. โค๏ธ

A heartfelt thank you to Peter for back marking today, and thanks also to everyone at the Cafe for being such wonderful hosts. I could easily find a special reason to mention every single person who joined us today, but I think that might keep me writing for the rest of the evening ๐Ÿ˜Š

โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿฅพ Jaunting with Jane from The Duke of Wellington ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒฟ

A huge thank you to Jane for leading todayโ€™s wonderful walk and to everyone who came along and joined in the adventure. Walking through the hottest part of the day certainly took some effort at times, so it was lovely to see everyone making the most of the shady spots along the wayโ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒณ

As always, the company, chatter, laughter and friendship made the miles drift by beautifully. These walks are never just about the route โ€” theyโ€™re about the people who make them so special. ๐Ÿ˜Š

A big thank you as well to Jane and Rob for capturing the day with their fantastic photos ๐Ÿ“ธ and to everyone at The Duke of Wellington for being such warm and welcoming hosts once again. ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘

โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿฅพ Scorching Spring Bank Holiday Walk and Talk at Vicar Water Country Park ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒฟ

What a fantastic Bank Holiday adventure we enjoyed today at Vicar Water, with blazing sunshine overhead and hardly any breeze to cool us down along the way. โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Š

Our wandering route took us alongside Warmbrooke Wood and Vicar Pond before passing the Golden Hand and heading into Oak Wood. From there we crossed the old Clipstone Colliery Line, cutting across towards Rufford Junction before skirting the edge of Sherwood Forest Golf Club as we strolled down Long Plantation. โ›ณ๐ŸŒฒ

Then came the famous ankle-teasing section as we descended towards Bower Hill Wood. Once there, before climbing Anne Bower Hill, Dave, Val, Rob, Sarah and John wisely chose the shorter shaded route back to the cars while the rest of us continued along the old trail towards the Cycle Route monument. ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ

From here we carried on on the shorter but steeper ascent through the wonderfully shaded High Hazel Coppice. Emerging onto Beards Meadow, we were rewarded with the final gentle climb to the summit and the beautiful nature sculpture created by Chris Campbell, inspired by drawings and collages from the 1st Clipstone Beavers, Cubs and Scouts as part of the Time to Connect Arts Trail. ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŒฟ

We then made our way down through Flixter Breck ๐Ÿ“ธโœจ before following the trail to Mallard Spinney and Pond and carefully crossing the stepping stones.

Although the official walk ended there, several of us extended the sunshine and conversation with a visit to Jacksons - the Bakers โ€” and I can confirm the luxury milkshake and cake were absolutely worth it ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿฅค๐Ÿ˜„

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us today, including my Son and Grandson, and thank you all for helping make another brilliant Bank Holiday walk full of laughter, friendship, sunshine and fantastic company. โค๏ธ

What a magical turnout we had today. With glorious sunshine overhead and just the occasional cooling breeze, it really was the perfect day for a walk. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Todayโ€™s adventure saw us wander from The Rufford across towards Pleasley, enjoying the beautiful fields, woodland trails, and wonderful company before stopping for some well-earned cooling refreshments in a really cool Pub. ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฅค

With the perfect walk leader and the perfect walkers, this pleasant 4-mile stroll felt effortless today. There was plenty of laughter, chatter, and smiles from start to finish โ€” exactly what Walk and Talk is all about. ๐Ÿ’š

A huge thank you to Peter for leading such a lovely walk and thank you all for joining us today. Special thanks also to Iain for capturing the day with his fantastic photos ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ‘

Next week we begin with our Bank Holiday walk at Vicar Water. Please note we meet in the main car park, but as itโ€™s expected to be busy you may wish to consider parking on the main road if needed.

๐ŸŒฟ Wandering at Welbeck ๐ŸŒฟ

What a tiime we shared today as we wandered from beautiful Welbeck Garden Centre out towards the South Tunnel Lodge and back again. We hope everyone enjoyed this gentle four-mile route filled with fresh air, friendship, and plenty of fun along the way.

Todayโ€™s walk really did have everything โ€” from moments of nervous tension to bursts of laughter echoing down the paths ๐Ÿ˜„ One thing we know for certainโ€ฆ our walks are always good, but somehow they just keep getting better and better.

A big thank you to Rob, Peter, and Karen for capturing the day with their photographs ๐Ÿ“ธ and special thanks to Tracey and Tony for kindly supplying the sweets ๐Ÿฌ which definitely helped keep us all going.

Weโ€™d also like to thank the Welbeck Estate for once again being such a wonderful host. Of course, the farm shop and food outlets also did very well out of us today ๐Ÿ’ณ๐Ÿ˜‚ With so many tempting things on sale, itโ€™s almost impossible to know where to stop.

**********
Now, today we were approached and asked to help promote another walking group. ๐Ÿ˜Š
This one is for ladies only โ€” so sorry guys, weโ€™re out of the loop on this occasion! ๐Ÿ˜„
They may not walk every day at the moment and currently have a limited number of venues, but every group starts somewhere. With support, encouragement, and enthusiasm, we are sure it will grow and flourish ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿฅพ
