Today I visited the Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle, and had the pleasure of seeing the The Last Ships exhibition, by photographer Chris Killip. Words can’t describe just how good it is, nor how I felt looking at the images. I was in awe of the power of his black and white photographs that documented the shipbuilding, and people, on Tyneside in the 1970’s. Genuinely emotional. Brilliant. The highlight of my day. Something to aspire to.

The snowdrops are still looking fabulous at Hopton Hall Gardens. A really fantastic display this year. Here are some photographs I took today, as part of the work I carry out for the Hall.

Barmouth Bridge, 2025
This has a special meaning for me. I used to holiday in Wales when I was younger. Mum had a caravan at Tal-y-Bont and we would visit 3 times a year. Sometimes we would go to Barmouth, and sometimes I'd get to fish from the bridge. I never caught anything, but I have fond memories of the bridge and its imposing stature.

Anyway, here it is, looking fabulous after recent refurbishments. I took some other compositions a bit closer, but I keep coming back to this one.

Mamiya RB67 Pro SD + Mamiya K/L 127mm f/3.5 L lens: f/27, 1 second. Ilford PANF, developed with Ilfotec HC.

Some nice words... thanks.
