Are we still enjoying what our ancestors ate in the morning in inns and alehouses? What were they having in 1600? Join us at the Hillcrest Centre on Tuesday to find out about the different types of drinking establishments from 1550 to 1750. We will hear the reactions from travellers (not always good!) and local customers to what was on offer, together with the lifestyles of the innkeepers, both male and female.

Members free.

Guests welcome: Entrance £5.00

One of Cllr. Kim's last Mayoral visits was a private view of the dynamic painting and photography exhibition by local artist Hilary Musk. The pieces were inspired by Peacehaven's landscapes, seascapes and fossils. (Art & Heritage of Peacehaven). You can view Hilary's work until 1st July at Newhaven Museum:

Setting up ‘Peacehaven’s Hidden Treasures’ exhibition with Hilary Musk.

Inspired by Peacehaven’s landscapes, seascapes, and fossils, the exhibition is on until 1st July. It also includes an exhibition on the early history of Peacehaven and photographs by Sarah Mann.

We are open Tuesdays, Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays 11am-4pm.

We are delighted to host Peacehaven’s Hidden Treasures, an exhibition of work by Hilary Musk inspired by Peacehaven’s landscapes, seascapes, and fossils.

To complement the artwork, we have curated an exhibition on the early history of Peacehaven. We are also pleased to show some of Sarah Elizabeth Mann’s Sea and Sky photography.

The exhibition runs from 19th May to 1st July. We are open Tuesdays, Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays 11am-4pm.

This exhibition remembers the centenary of the General Strike of May 1926 and the involvement of Newhaven workers. It also looks at other protests in the town including the fights against the incinerator and the closure of the West Beach.

This special exhibition runs alongside our Ferries exhibition which will also close on 13th May.

The museum is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays between 11:00am and 4:00pm.

You can find us next to Paradise Park, Avis Road, Newhaven.

Come and join us this evening (7th April) at the Hillcrest Centre for our Members’ Showcase. Hear from

Mike Tubb – ‘Torpedoed. Bombed. Survived’. Mike looks at two intriguing experiences of his maternal grandfather, a Newhaven seaman who served in both World Wars.

Bob Cairns – ‘Friend Hackett - Newhaven Shipwright’. Bob will introduce us to the earliest known Newhaven ship builder.

Graham Amy ‘What lies beneath farmer Bowles’ field?’ Graham, a metal detectorist, reveals all through finds made over the years.

Sue Pilfold ‘Newhaven in the 1960s’ Sue takes a trip down memory lane, inspired by a find in the museum storeroom.

The meeting will be preceded by our AGM.

Newhaven Museum is re-opening on Easter Monday with a FREE day.

After a winter of maintenance and refurbishment by our wonderful volunteers, Newhaven Museum reopens on the 6th April, Easter Monday with a FREE day.

Come and see the changes we’ve made and enjoy finding out more about the ferries’ important role in Newhaven’s history at our Welcome Aboard exhibition, celebrating

For younger visitors there are crafts and activities to enjoy.

Apart from Easter Monday we are open every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday between 11:00am and 4:00pm.

You can find us next to Paradise Park, Avis Road, Newhaven.
