FINAL HERITAGE IN ACTION DAY FOR 2026
Tomorrow, 26th August, is our final Heritage in Action Day of the season!
Join us for one last day of traditional skills, crafts and activities taking place across the site. There’s plenty to see throughout the day, with our demonstrators bringing Highland history and heritage to life.
Elaine Lindsay of Something Corny will be demonstrating the traditional craft of corn dollies and hairst knots at the croft, from 11am–1pm and 1.30–3.30pm. Find out more about this dying craft, and try your hand at making one yourself! There will also be ropemaking, traditional games, spinning, and metalworking going on throughout the day, down at the croft. Well worth a visit.
The Camanachd Association will be returning to for shinty demonstrations from 11am–1pm and 2–4pm. Try your hand at the game, and learn more about the history.
Head up to the Township throughout the day to discover a variety of textile crafts, thatching and pole lathe demonstrations, or stop by the curling pond to see our coracles. The Badenoch waulking group will be at the church from 1pm-3pm.
The collections store at Am Fasgadh will also be open from 2pm, with last entry at 3.15pm. 15,000 objects to explore, made possible by our wonderful volunteers!
Come along and help us round off another season of Heritage in Action Days at the Highland Folk Museum. We hope to see you there.
