The Harley Foundation is a charitable trust which supports the visual arts and crafts. Visitor attractions include The Harley Gallery, showing contemporary exhibitions, The Portland Collection art museum, gallery shop, countryside art trail, and events ranging from online history lectures to children’s art clubs. The Foundation also runs a community of artist’s studios and a vibrant outreach programme.

The Harley courtyard is no stranger to a sculpture 🏺

You may remember Martin Smith Studio’s 'Concentric Waves' (2005), a kinetic sculpture designed to mirror the water below. As people walked by, their movement triggered sensors that sent a ripple through the eighteen metal rings.

Now residing in the courtyard is Phil Neal's 'Stanley', his beloved late cockapoo, immortalised in recycled steel spanners. He's very popular with our visitors, so make sure you come and see him in person before the New Year changeover.

Meet the Tutor: Ruth 👩🏼‍🎨
Ruth is one of the creative whizzes here at the Harley Foundation.

You’ll often find her in the Harley Pottery Studio, teaching a range of classes from handbuilding tasters to six-week throwing courses. She also leads other creative sessions for us including textile workshops, mixed-media experimentation, and children’s craft activities.

Ruth is one half of Waller Hewett, a creative partnership making artwork and installations that bring together art, design and craft.

Our staff meeting looked a little different this morning!

Father and son duo Steve & Calum welcomed the Harley team for a tour of their Kitchen Garden on the Welbeck Estate.

Since restoring the garden to its former glory in 2021, the Kitchen Garden provides the Welbeck’s farm shop and café with fresh herbs, vegetables, eggs, and more!

Swap scrolling for a day packed with cooking and creativity this October half-term! 🍳🎨

Our brand new holiday club invites young people aged 11-16 to spend a day cooking 'fakeaways' in the state-of-the-art kitchens at the School of Artisan Food, before creating Halloween costumes, building crazy golf courses or taking on creative challenges with the Harley Foundation team.

Free places are available for children eligible for Free School Meals, alternatively places cost £35 per day.
