An exhibition by Hilary Dancer at The Frame

We’re delighted to be welcoming Hampshire artist Hilary Dancer back to the gallery this June ✨

From atmospheric cityscapes to tranquil coastal scenes, Hilary’s expressive contemporary paintings are full of colour, texture and emotion - capturing fleeting moments, light and atmosphere in her distinctive impressionistic style.

🎨 Last week, Katie and Sarah had the pleasure of visiting local artist Hilary Dancer at her beautiful home studio to help select the pieces for her upcoming exhibition at The Frame, ‘Sleepless Cities & Quiet Shores’.

Featuring Hilary’s beautifully atmospheric cityscapes and coastal-inspired works, the exhibition will run from 5th–17th June and is open to all, no invitation required.

A fascinating piece of history, well worthy of framing ✨📜

This handwritten document, dated 22nd August 1797, is a manuscript letter from the Ministry of the General Police during the French Revolution. Purchased from a specialist dealer in France, our customer believes it granted passage to a single individual named Citizen Auvray 🇫🇷

To help preserve and display this remarkable 200+ year-old document, we created a sympathetic frame and mount that keep all the attention on the document itself, paired with anti-reflective art glass with 70% UV protection to help slow deterioration over time.

Projects like this are always a reminder that framing is about far more than presentation - it’s also about protecting stories, history and moments from the past ❤️

Our Aluminium Collection has just grown ✨

⭐️NEW! ⭐️ Alongside our classic round and heart designs, we’ve now introduced mini square and star shapes - perfect for gifting or adding a little splash of colour to your home.

This beautifully crafted range of Fair Trade bowls and dishes is handmade by skilled artisans using recycled aluminium. Each piece is individually finished with a hand-enamelled colour interior, making every one completely unique.

Some stories deserve more than a place in an album - they deserve to be carefully preserved and shared.

This is a truly special framing project, telling the story of one family across time.

The first photograph shows our customer’s great grandparents surrounded by their children in the late 19th century. The second captures an almost unimaginable moment - our customer’s great grandmother surrounded by all nine of her sons, each one having returned home safely from WWI, without a single injury.

We’ll be sharing this project as it progresses, having started with the first step - a consultation with our customer. Taking the time to understand her requirements, and to hear the story behind the photographs, is an important part of what we do. It allows us to appreciate their significance and ensure they are preserved in a way that does them justice.

A powerful piece of history, and a reminder of just how much emotion photographs can hold. ❤️

A special framing project with a great story behind it 🏉✨

After returning from the Lions Tour last year, our customer wanted to preserve the memories of the trip – framing the straw boater he and his friends wore alongside a photo from the tournament. We paired a neutral mount with a gold frame to complement his home décor, and added a bespoke aperture featuring the tour details.

A thoughtful way to capture not just a collection of treasured items, but the experience behind them. We're pleased to say our customer was delighted with the finished project 😊
