Jewel Temple - There was a moment in my art life when everything shifted, and this painting was at the centre of it. I still don’t fully know what flew onto the canvas. I remember focusing on the camera recording the process, sponging paint on almost absent‑mindedly, letting the flow take over. There were several points where I could have stopped, but something insisted I keep going. It wasn’t until the next day — or perhaps the following week — that the painting revealed its identity. Hidden Buddhist forms began to surface, and the gold leaf echoed the glorious gold‑leafed temples of Thailand. I realised I had been painting from deep memory: the calm and the chaos of temple life, the world that shaped so much of my time in Thailand. If you’ve ever been to a Thai temple, you’ll know the feeling — it stays with you. Jewel Golden carries that same resonance. Red for love, hidden horizons, and a sense of discovery that keeps giving every time I see it.
