Richard Bramble

Richard Bramble New work and news from the artist Richard Bramble, including his ceramic collection, paintings, prints, textiles & Borough Market stall.

Richard was born in London in 1968 and attended Sherborne School, Dorset with an art scholarship. In 1986 he gained a place at the Slade School of Fine Art, London. Since graduating in 1990 he has worked full time as a fine artist, with his work appearing in numerous exhibitions around the country and in various private and corporate collections. His work as an artist ranges from the figurative to

the abstract. Depending upon the subject matter he uses a whole range of mediums (oils, oil pastels, watercolours, charcoal and chalk) to create original paintings and drawings. From these paintings and drawings come the designs for 'The Richard Bramble Collection' of ceramics, textiles, boards and mat ranges. Different mediums capture aspects of the original artwork - for example the richness of oil paint can be captured in the the ceramic colours and glazes, the vibrant watercolours (from the whiteness of the paper) can be evoked by using white porcelain as the base. The waviness of the glass boards on top of fish and shellfish paintings gives suggest the feeling of water.

Give a man a pile of granite and a stone hammer, and.....the Hebridean studio renovation is progressing slowly but surely! I realise why few work this old way, exhausting but incredibly rewarding. Especially when you have literally a stones throw-away corncrakes caĺling, eider, shoveler and merganser ducks diving with artic terns flying over head..
