It’s mad to think that Antony’s sponsored walk was 17 days ago…

The Facebook fundraiser was set to run until midnight last night and all the physical cash has been collected.

Anyone who has been following Antony’s progress will know that he set himself the challenge of raising £1,000 - we made that challenge a little harder by seeing if that could be £1,000 just on Facebook! Many amazing people rose to that challenge and the target was passed.

I am absolutely thrilled to announce that Antony’s Sponsored Walk raised a staggering…

£1,776.00

Just wow!

We have said Antony can tell us where the money will be used at the fort, so watch this space for news on Antony’s chosen projects.

Thank you to Gary Baines, Steve L and Frankie, Newhaven Fort, for joining Antony on the walk and for helping Antony achieve his goal.

Well done Antony, we’re so proud of you :) (of course, we’re proud of Gary, Steve L and Frankie too).

Day 3 at festival_of_transport, Hellingly is done and dusted and the event has finished for another year.

What a brilliant event for their 50th Anniversary, despite the weather of Saturday and Sunday… Today was lovely, as were all the visitors over the whole weekend.

Some of our eagle eyed supporters will have noticed, from yesterday’s photos, that our display has changed enormously…

After attending the Adur East Lions event at Buckingham Park in June, we realised that our mobile museum was a little poorly - we were genuinely concerned it wouldn’t last the season :(

Thanks to the HUGE generosity from some of our incredible supporters we now have a fantastic new event trailer.

This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the West Downs Task Force, Shoreham Beach Residents’ Association, Shoreham & Southwick Rotary, Worthing Rotary and Bertie (Paul Desjarlais) -from Weatherbeaters.

All who know us well, know our outreach and education programme is very important to us. The generosity of all those mentioned above has enabled a project with longevity. A project that will benefit many, many people at our events, school visits and events like this weekend, at Hellingly.

Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts. What was a really big worry for us has had such a positive outcome and we’re genuinely thrilled at the future opportunities this trailer will enable.

Just amazing…

Day two of Festival of Transport done and the weather was so much better than yesterday (Saturday) so let’s hope tomorrow (Monday) is even more of an improvement…

Good to see some of our volunteers today (Steve L and Lee & family) and great that Leo and Tony braved the weather yesterday…

Don’t forget to come and find us tomorrow if you’re attending, we’re right up the top with the military vehicles and boy oh boy there’s some corkers on display further down our line…

Day two of festival_of_transport done. Far better weather than yesterday (Saturday) so here’s hoping that tomorrow (Monday) is an even bigger improvement.

Good to see Steve L, Lee and family today and great that Leo and Tony braved the rain yesterday and went and said hello to the guys.

Don’t forget to come and find us if you’re there tomorrow :) We’re right up the top, with the Military Vehicles and there’s some corkers on display…

It’s such a shame that the weather isn’t being kind today but Steve J, Bruce and Gary are up at Hellingly for the 50th festival_of_transport.

If you are attending then do go and say hello, I’m sure they’d appreciate it.

What an exciting bank holiday weekend we have ahead of us…

This year is the 50th Birthday of the Hellingly Festival of Transport and we will once again be supporting this super event on all three days.

If you fancy a great family day out then do go and find Steve, Gary and Bruce and say hello :)

With Gary being at FoT, this does mean that we won’t be at the fort this Saturday for our usual volunteer day but we look forward to seeing you all on 12th September, for our Heritage Open Days event - 11:00~16:00.

Last post from me today for what has been such a brilliant achievement for Antony. He has wanted to do a sponsored walk for the charity for such a long time and now he can say he’s done it.

Huge shout outs also to Steve L, Frankie from Newhaven Fort and Gary for walking with Antony and keeping the momentum going… you guys are amazing!

Thanks go to Alan M in the support car, who not only collected our three from Shoreham Fort at 5am and took them to Newhaven for their 6am start, he also stayed close by the whole journey to ensure the guys were safe and also hydrated.

Thanks to Dave C who cycled from Portslade to near Peacehaven and photographed the guys along the way. Then cycled to Shoreham Fort for a cuppa :)

Thank you to Sarah B and Sue G for their cooking skills - burgers went down a storm…

Thanks to Chris and Allan for the yummy veg.

Thanks to all the volunteers for a fabulous day today, doing last minute preparations for our Heritage Open Days event on 12th September.

And lastly and most importantly, thank you to each and every one of you that has donated to Antony and the others. We do have paper sponsorship forms, as well as the online Facebook fundraiser, but it would be absolutely amazing if we could reach Antony’s target of £1,000 on FB…

We are currently at £796 on fb, which is amazing - we are sooooooo close.

Can we do it for Antony…??? With your help, yes we can!

The guys are now on Shoreham Beach…🎉🎉🎉

If you’d like to see them in then head to the Fort where we’ll be waving the flags :)

I have no doubt that they are utterly exhausted as the heat has really ramped up.

If you would like to show Antony, Steve L, Frankie (Newhaven Fort) and Gary your support them please make a donation on the FB fundraiser

https://www.facebook.com/donate/1392531582789908/?fundraiser_source=external_url

Antony set himself a target of £1,000 - will we be able to reach that target with just FB alone???
